I have a giant cave i want to remove but my pleco's do use it to hide in at times and it grows plenty of algae on it for them to eat. What should i replace it with i like it but its just too big and messes the current of the tank up quite abit due to its size. They have another cave so i don't know if to just replace it with a wood/rock pile and some plants

Opinions?

Just gave our Trigon 190 a clean today, been woefully neglected. We still have an orange spotted plec and 4 neons in there, gonna pick some plants up in the week and restore it to former glory.

my tank has not taken on a slight green tinge.

Ive never had a planted tank before, is this normal for the first few days?

Sounds very much like algae bloom. Can be common in new tanks.

It should sort itself out with regular water changes, but you could blackout the tank for a couple of days, then just have the light on a couple of hours a day for 2 days. After the fourth day, do a 50% water change and then increase the lighting schedule by an hour a day. You only really want the light on max 8 hours a day.

Get some Assassins:p

I'm tempted, but will I not just have an assassin snail outbreak? Or are they less destructive to plants?

Out of interest, when do you guys and gals have your lights turned on? When it is light outside? Or in the evening when it is dark?

I was wondering as putting it on during evening hours (when I'm home) would obviously increase the amount of time the tank is getting 'light' ?
