Now GTA IV is out, what has been your favourite so far? And your fav main character?

For me it has to be GTA Vice City, loved VC loved the main character Tommy Vercetti, I found the scripting to be the funniest out of all the GTA series so far.

The PC ver played the smoothest out of all the series too.

San Andreas was just too big and expected too much travelling between missions. GTA3 I found a little too serious, a little like GTA IV and VC Stories i dunno the PSP is too fiddly and I never bothered with the PS2 ver

Hopefully I'll get into GTA IV, but so far I am struggling.. Poor car handling and I just don't like the main character being Eastern European.

Just started GTA Vice City on the PC, im a little late too the party but...
And i must say im enjoying it so far maybe a little old looking now but not a problem.

In terms of story, probably Vice City. But overall, I'm totally enthralled by GTAIV atm, its so polished and has a great atmosphere.

It's hard because 1 and 2 are so different and were around at a different stage in my life. Both were fantastic, but I think it's best to leave them out of this!

3 was good, but I much preferred VC. Vercetti was a good character, but wasn't anything that special. I didn't like SA, they added too much crap and it distracted you from the fun stuff. I've not really played VC Stories.

4 is fantastic and I'm currently loving the story. The voice acting is fantastic. I personally love the fact he is Eastern European. I'm finding it the funniest of the series and Niko is by far the easiest character yet to connect to. I also love the car handling. Yes, it's different, but I'm finding it great fun!

I'd say 4 is the best of them, followed not to far behind by VC.

Just about to start playing GTA IV, my favourite at this point however is GTA 3. To me it feels like it takes itself seriously whilst having a cheeky/raw edge whereas Vice City focuses on it a little too much and is a bit too cartoony for my liking. It's very fun and a great game, however I think I just hold a candle for the feel of the first!

Will report back after playing IV for a while.

GTA London + Vice City, GTAIV doesn't even come close in fun factor or replayability or music channels, just an upgraded enviroment basically, i found Saints Row more fun and i fully expect SR2 to be better and more fun than GTAIV, after all GTAIV has nicked a few things from SR but failed on a lot of other things that is "borrowed"

Haven't played GTA 4 but I'd have to say GTA:VC. The atmosphere and music was great, and I have many great memories of playing Multi Theft Auto on the PC version.

GTA:SA was a terrible abomination. The framerate on the PS2 version was just abysmal, and the whole ghetto gangsta thing really didn't appeal to me. None of the dialogue or scenes were funny at all, and you could barely understand what the characters were saying due to the overuse of slang. And I swear the PS2 version was actually a downgrade in graphical quality compared to VC, it had some strange blur filter or something which made it look much worse.

i've played pretty much every GTA game to a greater or lesser extent (except IV (:(), GTA: Vice City wins hands down, it tied for the best game on my old x-box with halo and i must have played at least an hour every day after school for 3 or so years. loved the protagonist, the city, the colours and the characters (and the golf carts :D)
