I thought as we've got a month or so until we get the games of the year coming out from lots of places, we could start an OcUK game of the year debate! :p As I thought it would contain epic amounts of fun.

This isn't official in anyway, just a discussion before we (possibly) hold a proper game of the year ceremony. :p

I'll start us off:

My game of the year is split between Modern Warfare 2 and Shadow Complex. Modern Warfare 2 was just like playing through an action movie I loved every second of it and didn't want it to end. The fantastic online multiplayer has kept me entertained for so many hours and I'm still loving it.

I'm not really sure why I loved Shadow Complex so much... I think it's just more than the sum of it's parts. I'd never played a 2D exploration game before, so I'm a newbie to the genre, but it was just so so much fun and I was absolutely compelled to play it right until the end. The storyline was also fairly intriguing, even though it wasn't very strongly implemented throughout the game.

Just another note, I base those solely on how much fun I have/had whilst playing the game. Obviously a number of factors contribute to how much fun I have, but that's the be all and end all for me, fun.

Honourable mentions go to: Left 4 Dead 2, Forza Motorsport 3 and Red Faction: Guerrilla

Let me be the first of many, I suspect to suggest,......wait for it,.....of course,....and the winner is,......L4D2.

I don't game much anymore, but I must say I've been playing Modern Warfare 2 online every day since its release.

The only other PC game I've kept playing is Football Manager 2010. FIFA 10 is the other game I keep playing, but that's on the 360. :P

MW2. L4D2 is just an addon for L4D as far as I can see. Doesn't add anything extra that could not have been ann expansion pack. It also made L4D worthless in terms of money and playtime.

Ohh Shadow Complex, good call, definitely the best Arcade game I've played.

This is the PC games forum though

Mine was MW2 until I got to the "no russian" mission, which left a profoundly stale taste in my mouth.

In other words MW2 but that mission was disturbing to the extreme.

Hmm, actually a very tough question.

I havent played very many games this year, much less than in the past as I am beginning to reach the end of my gaming days.

Looking back over the year, I've enjoyed Aion and enjoyed Dragon Age. Though I dont think either have quite got what it takes for me to give them a game of the year award. For a large portion of the year this year I spent my time playing Battlefield 1942 again, still fun even after all these years.

In fact..currently on my hard drive there are only 3 games remaining, Aion, Dragon Age and BF1942. Whatever else I've played this year has long since gone from my hard drive.

So..as I say, tough question. I dont think anything I've played this year is worth a game of the year award, and if I had to go upon which game I've played the most this year ..it would actually be Battlefield 1942.
