'Your version of Windows 10 will reach end of service soon'

Downloaded, said it installed, restart PC nothings changed. Run update tool again took seconds this time as files obviously sitting on drive...

Updating... stuck on 0%

Looks like its a bust and I'm looking at a reinstall of windows at this point. Oh joy.

Would confirm why a few of us were stuck on an old build and it would not apply (I looped twice trying before I realised this had to be sorted manually). Pro version here. Once it updated its been working like it used to. In its state it was hard to use very laggy, poor for winblows again.

Perhaps it will do a revert back if you wait ...?

A bit of a b------r. Sorry if we led you off the straight and narrow. Mel

Well after sitting there for an age it finally updated and went through the reboot cycle umpteen times and it actually updated! It states I'm finally on 20H2!

Windows Update is still busted though

"Error encountered
Last checked: Today, 22:16"

"We couldn’t connect to the update service. We’ll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn’t work, make sure that you’re connected to the Internet."

I'm most definitely connected to the internet but its been like that for months. Ah well.

If you look on the windows 10 site you can download files to create a windows 10 bootable reinstall / recovery usb dongle. Need usb stick > 8gb.

If you can create this and boot from it you get to a reinstall screen BUT in the bottom left of the screen it says "recover previous windows 10 install".

If you click on this and then go to "Advanced Options" one of these is to "remove previous update". There are other options - can't remember. This may get you to a recovered system. What a hassle!!!

Or perhaps you just need to check the network connection still works and doesn't need a driver refresh?
