Posted that I was getting this done in another thread and know [TW]Fox wanted to know the outcome aswell as another owner who was interested.

If you aren't interested I don't care. :p

Went along to http://www.autotechperformance.co.uk after someone posted up about them on the z4 forum. He has the massively expensive Autologc kit at his garage in Telford.

According to BMW as mine is a 2003 plate Z4 I can't have the remote open/close roof. Which is basically a lie for whatever reason. Was at the garage for around 20 mins (great service) who plugged the computer into the car and activated:

Remote roof
One touch down passenger window - god knows why it doesn't have it already
Seat memory (as soon as I hit unlock on my key the seat gets into position depending on which key it is, handy if someone else drives the car regularly)
Indicator flash when unlocking - before the interior light used to just come on without any other signal so in the day it was hard to know if I'd unlocked it by accident.
Beep when locking and unlocking.

£25 later and I was on my way home :D

BMW have quoted £40 per option to a fellow Z4 forum member so this is abit of a bargain.

Anyone with a BMW can get these options and many more at this garage so if you are around the area it would be worth popping in.

I know Fox was interested in getting his mums done. It works great, you do have to keep the button pressed and I tried it from one end of the drive (about 5 metres away from the car) and it worked fine while I walked towards the car. Didn't want to look like a complete tool so I stopped playing with it after a couple of goes in the street :o

Absolutely brilliant news. Does it open *and* close the roof?

Can you pop out to your car and see what the build month is? It's on a sticker on the suspension turret. Alternatively email me the first 7 characters of your VIN :p

Provided its the same age or older than ours it looks like I'll be taking the Z4 next time I drive to the GF's :p

It amazes me these are the only guys who can do this!

So why are BMW being a penis about it? Surely if someone wants remote open/close as long as it's possible it'll mean more money for them?

Anyhow, sounds like good news for Z4 owners. Enjoy the novelty :)

Because it will be a tool for selling an upgrade in car. Duh.

I'll stick the logbook and the spare key in the post too while Im at it :p

Will do in the next 30 mins, 29 of those will be working out what the suspesion turret is. :o

EDIT : It opens and closes. My neighbour is going to take his 1 series cabriolet down because from brand new it only opens and won't close

There is no upgrade offered for a 2003 Z4 by BMW themselves to make the roof remote.

The two big things the strut brace connects to at either side :p

Sorry if I wasn't being clear with that comment, I meant an actual upgrade in car eg new Z4.

I think you should post both keys and all the documents to someone more deserving. I mean come on, how can you not know what a suspension turret is?

Remote roof? That's awesome :D Do you need to manually release any catches to open the roof or is it totally automatic once you press a button?

I've been looking for somewhere like that, someone who's got the relevant software to go in and change all the cool options :D.

Is there a list anywhere of what settings can be done on what cars? One's I know I want done on dads E61 LCI are Beep when locking and unlocking, PDC sensitivity reduced (it goes to red/solid beep about a foot away), rain sensor sensitivity.... and probably loads we don't know exist!

:o Just decoded the VIN on the net and it tells me the manufacture date is August 2003.

I only drive the thing :o Then occasionally fix things when they break with online guides :p

Indeed it is cool. I can see myself stepping out of the beer garden in the summer with all the outdoor tables full of hot sweedish girls as I walk to the car holding the key in my pocket as the roof drops. And then stops half way knowing my luck :D:p

I'm pretty sure this is what my 56 plate Z4 does as well (I never use that feature to be honest as I forget about it lol), it doesn't close in case people get fingers trapped afaik.

I don't suppose you saw what software they were using? I'd like the indicator thing done and seat memory.

http://www.autologic-diagnostics.com/

Thats the touchscreen thing he had. Apparently manufacturers are fighting to stop autologic being able to use their software. Volvo are trying to pass a law in Sweden which prevents the software bieng used anywhere but Volvo computers. The guy who did the work said it is 50/50 whether this software will be available to anyone other than the manufacturers by next year.

Ahh nice, my local Indy has one of those I believe (K&M Auto-Techniks, Windsor). I wonder if they can do all of that, I know they can do thinks like reprogramming LCMs for fitting LED rear lights etc.

I'll call them this week and report back.

Good luck with that. There is a garage in Hull but they quoted me £75 plus a 7 hour drive :p

Mr tommo....

Do want!! That's cool :D

:D My neighbours must thing Im a tool, testing it in the rain!
