I think it looks good, so much better than that dodgey gun barrel heatsink. Still no PCI slot which imo should have 1 instead of so many small PCI-E that no one would use anyway on this kind of board.

I didn't want to give up my Prelude because of that.

But the problem is no matter how good the motherboard is...IvyBridge i5/i7 CPUs would turn into a micro-oven and temp becomes too high for comfort to use 24/7 when overclocked to 4.8GHz and beyond (and having better CPU cooler doesn't help much due to how the chip is trapping the heat inside itself)...the limiting factor of the CPU is really with the temp, rather then if a motherboard can push IvyBridge i5/i7 beyond 5GHz or not...

the quads can go upto 100c. I doubt temp is the limiting factor really, its more likely the user not understanding the chip can go that high if need be.
I ran conroe at 80c from 2006 till last year and it was fine. I doubt temp is any more a imitation here

M'mm that motherboard setup looks really hot! ;)

Does this use quad channel mem?
Dual Channel, although you will be able to run four sticks of ram no problem. Quad Channel = X79.

im currently running a asus z77 premium and was going to go for an asus z77 maximus extreme v

would this board overclock better with a 3770k or is the max v the better choice at double the price

I'm amazed at how minimal this board is. Others are loaded with capacitors and circuitry.
