Hey guys,

Gettin sick and tired of the jet engine attatched to this card so going to replace it with this

But i got a bit of dilemma, basically i have never fitted a third party cooler on a graphics card before, even got my good friend tom to fit my Artic Silencer to my last card 6800GT.

Thing is though, he's graduated now and isnt about plus its time i learnt myself lol, so how easy are these to fit. Looking at it from a total novice's perspective, how easy would it be for me to fit this. Plus how easy is it to get the stock heatsink off

I really dont want to damage the card so if its a risky job i think i'll just put up with the loud noise

Also would i need to buy the zalman ramsinks or do they come with it

Many thanks guys

The zalmans are easy to fit, all the instructions are with the kit and they do come with ramsinks. The vf900 is a v good cooler and quiet when run at 5/7V.

You can't go wrong really

Hey again

reviving a hell of an old thread here, but its better than making a new one

I got mine installed a couple of days ago, very good cooler

But i just wanted to ask is anyone else running this config? And are they using the lowest speed. Just although its quiet, its so much quieter at lowest speed

I could run 3DMark for hours over to make sure and watch the temps, but the forum is here to ask questions :)

I'm using mine at the lowest speeds and still am getting temps 10+C better than the stock cooler. Highest speeds almost 20C better though, but it's gone cold again so no point keeping the fan at anything higher than minimum.

Yeah just run that HDR demo stress test (which gets your card more toasty than any game i've found) for 30 mins. PCB got to 77 max and GPU 70 max

Stock cooler it would get to 80-81 GPU and 90 PCB so very impressed

I'd recomend the accelero X2 it's a lot cheaper and does an excellent job. It's very easy to fit and has reduced my load temps from 80deg down to 60 (idles around 41 deg). Even with the fan on 100% you can hardly hear it but the heat is no longer exhausted out of the back of the case like the stock cooler (same with the vf900). If you have good case air flow though this shouldn't be a problem :)

I'd never fitted an aftermarket cooler before and did it with the VF900 on my X1800XT. Very easy and quiet. I keep it on full speed all the time as my three panaflo fans are always on full so the VF900 can't be heard over them. Even if i put my head in the case and change the speed i can't hear much of a difference. Very pleased with it :)
