Has anybody been to this little island?

I am off there in around 2weeks time.

Any sights you recommend going to see or activities you recommend doing?

How about night life? Where are the "hot spots"?

Cheers,

Chris

I went to Tsilivi last year and it sucked :(

Hotel was really really nice, lots of hotties around, beach was excellent, fantastic weather.

But the night life sucked. There were loads of quiet pubs and only 2 proper nightclubs, one of them wasn't open until the last night... but WHAT a night that was :D

Ok, so it didn't suck as it's much better than being stuck in England over the summer, but if I could go back to Greece, it would be to Sidari in Corfu. Now that was a holiday!

Loads of brits go to Laganos (I think that's it). Was about an hours coach ride from Tsilivi and supposed to be the place to go for a night out.

Laganas - thats all you need to know - chock full of bars. I went there when I was 16 for my first ever holiday without the parents.

It was an eye opener    ;)

Well, your parents allowed you to go away by yourself. Mine never would have.

My mum didn't want me going away with them this year as she said I was "too old"

My mate went there 3 weeks ago he said it was really nice. I seen his pics and it looks bloody amazing.

So that means the whole thing sucked. Right.

We stayed in Argassi a few years ago, and it was great - We stayed in Sidari in Corfu last year and tbh it was very similar, loads of nightlife, great food, quiet enough to be relaxing but close enough to the nightlife if you wanted it.

You'll have a great time, remember that for the most part, you make the holiday ;)

I was in Laganas a few weeks ago and it was very very mad. I cannot remember too much about what happened after about 3 in the morning :o . If you go there I would advise you to not go out until 10/11 at night otherwise trying to last all night when you start drinking at 8 can get very messy, me and my friend did that one night and I lost my memory, we had no idea how we got back to the apartment, I don't think the dentists chair, beer, shots and fishbowls helped though :D . I will warn you though a lot of the clubs only play R&B, which is fine if you like that sort of thing otherwise head over to Cocktails and Dreams where they play everything apart form pop music.

I particularly liked Rescue nightclub (dance / trance and open till 7am or so at weekends) although also enjoyed a few nights in Cocktails & Dreams (I liked the smoke machine which was triggered every few mins or so outside on the roof terrace).

I would really like to go back, and also to work there.

Laganas is fantastic for nightlife, although the other places Argassi and Tsilvi are also nice - albeit quieter.

Watch out for the guys (usually on motorbikes) who try to sell tickets to clubs off shore which perform games involving intimate acts between girls and boys ;) as they can be a right pain in the ass. Oh yeah, and the immigrants selling stuff outside clubs.

Those damn kids were doing my head in, I nearly smacked one round the head at one point. We spent a lot of time in END due to the barmaid with big norks :D Also the reason we spent a lot of time at the start of the night in G-Spot, there was a stunning bird from Carlilse there

went there a few years back v.nice place was only 16 when i went tho :/ so dont know many hot spots but gotta say dont go on the boat trip to see the ship wreck because its crap

Well, taxi is arriving around 3am.

So see you guys when I am back in a weeks time.

Hope nothing bad happens whilst I am away, only good things!

I stayed in Laganas a few years back. What a toilet... full of the sort of people that give British holiday makers a bad name abroad. Probably the worst food I've ever had in Greece too.

Still if getting mashed out of your head and loads of people in England footy tops and union jack shorts appeals, you might like it.

What does it have to do with your mum what you choose to do with your time and money?

I had 1 bad meal in 2 weeks which isn't too bad and on the whole, England footy tops were mostly worn during the England v Greece match it was very rare we saw people wearing them, maybe I went at a reasonable time  . The place is full of Chavs though which was annoying :(

Maybe it has improved a bit then... my first experience of the place was arriving on the coach at 6.30 in the morning to see a fat bloke in union jack swimming shorts urinating in the sea by the road.

Lovely

Gotta agree with that, just couldn't get them to understand that a tonne of salt was not required in every meal.

The trips were quite bad, the ship wreck one is to a shingle beach covered with patches, of naturally occuring, tar.

Pubs were quite good, and for a drunken **** up holiday its ok, but personnally i got a bit bored and sodded off to Kefalonia for a mini-break in the middle of my holiday. Probably won't ever go back there again either, as there are other Islands that do the nightlife but with better beachs, culture and food.

Oh, but there are giant turtles and they are fairly funky to see when you're out swimming.

No swearing! FF.
