AM4 gets yet more CPU's

8 years after launch of the AM4 socket they are still pushing out new CPU's for it.

Ryzen R7 5700X3D, 8 cores 16 threads @ 4.1Ghz with 96MB of L3 Cache.

Its the same CPU as the 5800X3D with 400Mhz lower clocks and $50 cheaper, $250 vs $300, the 5800X3D is currently selling for £290 so this should come in at £240 to £250

Expected availability 31/01/2024.

I'm more interested in the 8700G, not gaming much these days but that apu is something I would like to have a play about with. Think I'll sell on the 7800X 3D and bag one. Price not bad either at $330.

An X3D chip has been on my radar for a bit as my 3600 is showing its age a bit - and it should last me well into the future. Will OCUK have it Jan 31st?

Still Zen3 cores though - no additional performance/IPC is being gained over parts released many years ago.

but the x3d is gaining performance though in gaming ? and people with boards from years and years ago some even with zen 1 or zen 2 ? dont see problem with it the more choices the better

Yeah exactly. These 'new' AM4 parts are still old Zen3. There were Zen3 parts released years ago with greater performance, such as 5800X3D for gaming and 5950x for multi-core.

Whilst that's the case some people don't like to purchase second hand so a new for used comparison isn't appropriate imo. No doubt in 6-12months after release it will be as they'll be a used price for both then.

if i was buying i would happily pay less for a CPU that's clocked 9% faster. it is a fair comparison.. if both CPU's came out at the same time then you would be right but at this point in time your not.

I managed to find new 5800x3d probably over a year ago £255 , deals do pop up

Rarely ever pay day one price , always deal or voucher pops up to use

But still the more choices the better finding deals or used route

They will still command a premium price because AMD know that the target market will still save a lot of money by not upgrading to AM4, while also getting excellent performance.

I went from a 3600 to a 5800x3d, awesome upgrade, get one !
