2900pro 512bit Interface Confirmed.....by HIS

guys these are probably speed binned cores, they should overclock well but not past xt speeds, i would wait until the 55nm revision which offers less heat, less power usage and much more chance of overclocking potential, but thats just me, or i would just wait for a proper dx 10.1 card to come out

But the 55nm version is the RV670 core, which has the 256 bit memory bus. At least these are the full R600 core with the 512 bit bus.

Im surprised they are this low. I would have thought the 12 layer pcb and the size oif the core wouldn't make it this low but its like it doesnt.

Not been confirmed anywhere but I for one would not be surprised if it was a cut down 2900xt ;) im talking the mem bus etc! 256bit would not surprise me for the rehash

It's odd that a few people have seen them around in other shops/online retail outlets, I've only noticed Overclockers having them up for pre-order. Perhaps I'm not as internet bargain savvy as I thought!

Well I've pre-ordered mine just now so! Just means I can't use my new rig until it comes in stock, lol.

If I can see one for around £150 I might be interested. Still pricey for me since things got REAL tight lately. Wife has started working now, so thankfully finances should be on the up again :) Houses are blinking expensive, even when on 22-24k a year.

Will be hugely interested in the benches. I must admit it is one thing that will temp me to jump early instead of wait for the next round of cards.

Found a powercolor for £148. It's not in stock, otherwise it would be mine already!

O my... lol

Power color seem to have a habit of having slightly lower spec though, so would make sure you check the actual specs before purchasing one of these. (The 1950xt running at lower memory speed by powercolor is a prime example).

And hopefully ATI's design decisions for DX10 will FINALLY come into fruition, and make them worth buying :)

Decisions, decesions... I was going to buy an 8800GTS today but now I think I'll wait afew weeks. These cards are popping up on a number of respectable etailers now so they should be available soon. At £150 to £170, and so long as they overclock, these could be the bargain performance GC to buy.

Let's just hope they are not crippled by lower spec memory modules. I am confident GPU's will reach XT speeds so long as core voltages are left alone.

ATI may finally have a winner. Unless of course NVidia drop prices to counter....

As a comparison, I have downclocked my 1gb XT to the 1gb pro speeds and ran a few benchies :

3D Mark 06 Defaults:
XT11400 +- a little
Pro10000 +- a little
Difference-13%

X3 Reunion Bench 1920x1200 4AA (+narrow tent) 16AF:
XT58
Pro39.6
Difference-32%

F.E.A.R 1920x1200 4AA (+narrow tent) 16AF:
XT45
Pro38
Difference-15%

IL2 1920x1200 4AA (+narrow tent) App Pref AF:
XT60
Pro53
Difference-13%

So it would generally appear to be around 14% slower (Not sure why X3 was so much lower than the rest), for around 33% cheaper, good VFM at stock, great if it OC's to XT ;)
Even the worst case of the test above still puts it even bang for buck.

Now if only they could fix the XP driver issues in 2D, and BSOD in GTL/GTR2 replays in XP ....
