*****Official ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA thread*****

I am just about to upgrade to this board with a E8600 Core2 Duo, I was wondering I will be watercooling the CPU however does anyone know of a compatible NB block that will work with this board? I know the NB and SB can be seperated from the actual mosfets.

Or do you guys think that the NB runs cool enough with this board?

The NB and SB are separated with the Rampage Extreme but on the Rampage formula - from what i can tell it appears that it is part of one big heat pipe. I tried to get mine off and failed lol. If you do manage to get the heatpipe / NB / SB blocks off you will need to replace everything.

Yeh I would have to put another SB cooler on there however I have heard a Enzotech CNB-S1L will do for that purpose. However I was under the impression that the NB can be seperated so it will still leave half of the standard heatsink on, where the mosfets are?

Not that i could tell mate - although i had difficulty getting the block off at all.

I'm going to push my QX9650 even further this weekend so i'll let you know how i get on.

Ok it was quite a pain however I did manage to get the NB/SB heatsinks off, I haven't received the NB/SB replacements yet however I will update when I get and install them (probably wednesday). I did find it a pain to get off however if you use a hairdryer and heat up the heatsinks it does make it easier to remove them.

More coming next week

What mem do you use?

In the past with all Asus boards I have used either Mushkin or Corsair. With the Rampage I use the G.Skills as it cheap and cheerful and it does what it suppose to do.

In the past when I considered OCZ ram it was not an option to use on the old 939 boards as Asus and OCZ ram didn't play too nicely. Although I suspect that is not the case these days. Bu I use OCZ ram in my other pc setup.

Considered Crucial ram but didn't want to play the 50/50 game if they had to be RMA'ed or not.

I have this board but many problems like ramdon restarts think i have memory problems whats best for this board?

Are you running with LLC enabled by any chance?

If so it's probably worth disabling it just to see how you get on, you'll probably need to up the vcore a notch or two to compensate for the extra droop though.

Edit:

Worth a read:

Daveangle. What blocks are you going to use?

Using a Swiftech GTZ for the CPU, EK-NB S-Max for the NB and a Enzotech CNB-S1L for the SB replacement, I haven't fitted anything other than the GTZ however I will be doing the rest hopefully tonight, so I will post a update of it once I am finished.

Also I am using Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 for my memory, I run everything on stock to make sure it worked and it seems to get full speeds once I updated the Bios.

Fitted the EK-NB S-Max and the Enzotech CNB-S1L can confirm they both fitted. The Enzotech CNB-S1L sits slightly off center however it sill covers the whole SB. Forgot to get my camera out and take a photo but I will get one tonight when I do the leak tests.

How much did they cost all up mate? Also, what mofsets did you buy?

Thanks for your updates btw :)

I didn't get anything for the Mofsets as they are still covered by the remaining heatsinks, and when I removed the other part the connection between the two heatsinks was pitterful so by the looks of it they more or less work as two seperate parts anyway. Not sure of the exact total but it was around £1100-£1200.
