Question targeted at Gibbo really.

What sort of stock levels are we going to see on release day for 6870 cards? And furthermore 6970 cards
Have ocuk got a decent ammount of cards available ?

im sure they have 6850 & 6870 to play with already. NDA does not allow them to tell much about it i imagine maybe even stock quantitys. smiley face thread should reveal all.

Also Gibbo do the 6870 pyramid :p

Given how small the actual cores are the expected performance increase (or lack of) along with TSMC's improved 40nm process would think availability will be a lot better then the 5870/5850, I wouldn't sweat it.

Reason I'm asking is last week Gibbo seemed very well informed on specs and what to and not expect, given that I'm assuming he knows what the deal is he must have a good idea on levels

Hi there

Yes we will have stock, expect following:-

6850 - Maximum 50pc, competes with GTX 460 768mb and price circa £135 +VAT!
6870 - Maximum 50pc, competes with GTX 460 1GB and replaces 5830, price circa £180 +VAT.
69xx - Not coming out, that is ATI's next launch in November!

Thanks for reply Gibbo.
Are we not likely to see specs for 69xx till november then ?
What sort of levels of stock are we looking at for 69xx ?

So £158 for 6850 and £211 for 6870, fair bit more expensive than the cards they are going up against, guess they must out perform them by a fair margin.
