Exactly, the battlelog website is where it all happens so the download service arguments people have about Origin/Steam are largely irrelevant as any client would just launch your browser.

Providing their web servers hold under the load of release day it will be fine, as I thought it worked great in the Alpha.

Really liked Cattleprod (battlelog) in the Alpha. I can see the evolution to it as well tbh, clan pages, scrim and ladder pages all being in their, mutli platform interaction etc etc.

Its potential as a portal is endless, even future series games can be there. It was an inspired idea by Dice imho and one we should be embracing rather than being “scared” of. Providing it actually works that is.

been out of the gaming loop for a while but run bf2 and other games pretty decently.

So i wondering how much of a improvement BF3 going to be on the older titles in gaming reality terms not hype marketing "this is going to be 100x better than bf2 ect"

My spec i have atm is
E8400 3.0 watercooled
4gb ram
Vista 64 bit
4870 ATI

Would i be able to run BF3 and if so/not would upgrading the graphics card help a lot or is it dire either way?

Like bfbc2, this will probably run a lot better on a quad than a dual core cpu, gpu wise it's hard to say at present. As the alpha was only for test purposes, the september beta should be a better performance indicator.

Quad is a must, it is for BC2 so I don't see it being any different with BF3. GPU wise I'd say a 460 or similar will be fine. My friend with the same specs as me played the Alpha fine, doubt it'll change drastically by release!

BF3 Alpha Trial Screenshots (HD5850 1GB)

Here are some of my sceenshots from Alpha Trial. 'Single 5850 Graphics Card'

These are taken from the Original Version of Alpha Trial, and not from the subsequent updated version in which people reported higher FPS.

Screen Resolution: 1920 x 1080p, Full Screen Enabled, Graphics Quality High

Enjoy!!

My system specs:

[email protected] (378MHz x 9)
4GB DDR2 1066MHz (running at DDR2 1005MHz)

HD5850@725/1000Mhz (Stock)

In general:

35-45 FPS (Outside)
45-55 FPS (Subway)

HD5850@900/1200MHz (Overclocked)

In general:

45-55 FPS (Outside)
55-65 FPS (Subway)

Overclocking 5850 to the above core and memory speeds seem to yield around 10+ FPS in general and is definitely worth it.

Btw I was playing it on my 40" Samsung TV :p. I presume game is in Dx11 mode automatically.

Very nice, only took a few screens, fps was pretty low on the first version.

40 outside, 50 in the train station. 70-80 fps with sli in the updated trial, 1920x1200, high settings, (above image resized).
