Sapphire 7950 Screenshots

Seems like it'll be directly competing with the GTX580

Here's hoping the 1.5GB version is <£300

It will be at stock, maybe with a slight overclock but with a "real" overclock of 1150-1200Mhz or so I think we'll find it at least as far away from the 580gtx as the 7970 is now, probably a bit more.

With a 10% clock speed bump vs the 7970 its still 4% behind, which is about how much its lacking in shaders(13% or so). I think previous gens with slightly less than highly utilised shaders the difference in shaders seemed less apparent than before.

These will kill if both, they overclock as well at 7970's, the cores should, AIB's could have skimpped on VRM's/other components to prevent such high clocks.

it "could" overclock higher and with less heat/noise which could actually potentially put the "usable" clocks enough ahead of the 7970 to match it in speed. While the 7970 is a great card with higher voltage and clocks I wouldn't want to put up with higher fan noise.

It "could" unlock, if they unlock AND overclock the same I'm crazy interested, if overclocking is limited I'll be very disappointed. Time will tell I guess.

These could be anything from £100 cheaper 7970's ready to be unlocked and overclocked further, to cards that can barely overclock and can't get withink 20-30% of a 7970.

As far as I know all 7950's are going to be non reference aren't they?

I'm not entirely sure, afaik they are ALLOWED to do non reference pcb's and coolers from day 1, that doesn't necessarily mean they won't go the AMD PCB route. We could again find unlocking possible but only on "reference" pcb's and find Sapphire doing another "it will probably unlock" line.

Either way, price as it stands, useless, we really need to see where prices end up when we get some cards that get around existing prices. Will a £350 cause the 580/570gtx prices to drop, will the 7870 cause it, and when they all drop the 7970/7950 SHOULD come down to compete on price/performance with them.

I really think this card needs to be 300. But it won't, it will be more like 350, at which point you might as well just spend another 100 and get the 7970...

btw the sapphire cooler is a really nice one - the same they use on the 6870 dirt 3 and the newer 6970.

and I like the blue color - goes with my blue parts (mb, mem, fan led).

everyone copying MSI design :p

If they (cards) were mobile phones they'd be suing everyone and get sued from all over :p

Ontopic tho, 7950 if those benches are true, the overclocking potential seems amazing! If the release really is soon, will have to get rid of my 6950 to someone at work rather quickly. :p

Can you buy a 580 for £300.

This card is as quick and quicker once both cards are overclocked. It shall be priced between 1.5GB 580 and 3GB 580 as that is where it performs.

agree. I'm glad cpu's dont go the same way. My 2500k was nice and afordable.. . If Keplar is faster it looks like they will be £600 plus crazy price for single gpu . As said in Dragons den 'I,M OUT'

That would make it about £400 (according to your 580 prices although your 3GB's are priced quite high)?

If so you wonder who this card is aimed at. It's very close to the 7970. Especially now its not much effort to grab a 7970 for £450.

Stop with these threads! The retailers see them and how much we are salivating at the thought of owning one and then throw £100 quid on top and gouge the **** out of it.

I took the plunge and went for a Gigabyte 7970, getting it tomorrow.

I only game at 1080P so I don't need the power of a 7970 and its too expensive for me right now. I rather get a 7950 now (which I think is a little bit faster than crossfire 5850s) and then get another later this year.
