We are currently in talks with MSI to clear up the GPU issue.

Here is a screenshot from the GS60 in a review:

Quite clearly kepler.

Got a quote from a media:

"One of the big questions laptop buyers are going to have is which chips actually contain Maxwell DNA. The answer is a bit complicated. The GeForce 830M and 840M are both Maxwell. So is the GTX 850M and some of the GTX 860Ms. Nvidia will be selling two different flavors of the GTX 860M — an 1152-core GPU flavor based on Kepler and clocked at 797MHz (+ Boost), and a 640-core variant based on Maxwell, running at up to 1029MHz (+ Boost)."

Certainly Kepler

Wireless cards are a pretty easy upgrade to do.

Indeed, for extra cost, no?

Darn... Gibbo probably talked to someone at MSI who had no idea then.

Personally I will only buy Maxwell... half the TDP so much cooler.

Notebookreview forum are saying not to go with the OCUK specs page as it's wrong anyhow and uses the old laptop specs (size, weight, thickness etc)... http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/742589-msi-gs60-ghost-ghost-pro-thread-5.html#post9607980

It's looking like Kepler.

We got official word from MSI US:

The unit in the review was a pre production unit, all production units with the 860m are maxwell.

I'm also wondering about the ram. 8GB of ram isn't really ideal for me. I saw a video online of an GS60 being opened and it looks like a lot of effort to get to the ram.

that is why I am opting for GS70 Pro ...16GB should be more then enough for years to come :) also for the games I am playing 870 will be just fine (think 860 would be enough but like the idea of 870 in it and hope it wont fry because of the temps :>

If it's anything like my GS70 it's a total pain in the bum, back off motherboard completely stripped out as the slots are on the rear of the board.

Anyone got a source for those non-standard mSATA SSD's? Just wondering how easy it will be to add another one later, for more fast storage.

mSATA SSD's are very easy to find but we can't give out names as they'll be competitors.

I'm surprised they can get away with that... I thought RAM was supposed to be easy to swap out and upgrade on Windows gaming notebooks?

And it usually is but in a laptops that thin there are some compromises. That is why I would prefer to buy 2x8 straight from the box (even though I can handle to put them myself but can't be bothered with the fiddling...)

Just seen they have put up a GS60 - 870m with 16GB ram. Cheers, will be ordering one shortly :)

They did? I don't see it.
I ordered one with 8GB of RAM because I'm impatient, but I was half hoping it would be upgraded or a model with 16gb would be put up . (Followed by contacting them to upgrade my order)
