Is anyone else not too happy with the reference cooler? My 980 throttles quite heavily (seen it drop to 980MHz) under prolonged load. Quite tempted to go for the G1 instead :(

I am very happy with my reference cooler on my EVGA 980 SC! Sure, I've edited the fan curve to be much more aggressive, but I usually game with headphones so it doesn't bother me! Never goes above 70c and that's with 1400+mhz on core!

I will try setting the fan curve to be more aggressive for now. I've downsized from being fully water cooled where no fan was above 1000RPM so I'm a little off put by fan noise :p I'm sure I'll get used to it again.

R9 290 Non-X OC(1175/6000) vs 980 GTX OC(1513/8000)

980 GTX , I am running 1513 core/8000 memory. The card throttles because hitting and going over TDP limit but it really does not matter at all.New Bios should be out soon.

980GTX-Boost clocks 1450-1513 throttling core/8000 Memory.

Now in the exclusive 980 club. Took delivery of 2x EVGA GTX 980. Along with an Asus ROG Swift and some corsair dominator plats for my new build. Still didn't get any Haribo though!!

Gerard - many thanks for that table. Is that all your own data? Very impressive if so.

My EVGA SC arrived yesterday, I posted my first bench up in the Heaven thread.

Never been a fan of boost but it makes sense now as this gen boosts like crazy.

The cooler is so good it seems a shame to replace them with waterblocks but needs must.

Well just re-ordered my 980 and ROG Swift after a PayPal problem with my original order so hopefully they should come tomorrow. I ordered the OCUK 980 so does anyone who's bought one have any info on who makes them as the store page has no info.

Will there be much difference between this and the R9 290? , just upgraded but im wondering.

I'm going to do some benches against my current 290 tonight, will post the comparison later. Stock vs Stock and OC vs OC.

Edit: Actually might save myself the trouble gerard has done a comprehensive table above.
