Well no doubt the boost is being throttled with the default fan profile. Also don't forget the boost clock isn't set in stone. In fact EVGA list 1190 as their boost clock for the SC. I think mine is decent at 1250, so it seems like you have especially good cards.

I don't really want to try Witcher 3 since I haven't even started it yet but I'll give updates as I play more games.

My EVGA SC ref 980ti was boosting to just over 1300 (think it was 1330~) originally and I was very pleased with this over the advertised boost speed.

I've since sent the card back because it developed coil whine of a magnitude I've never experienced before. However, I found that the card was being throttled back to it's advertised speeds over a reasonably long gaming session.

Mine would only maintain over 1300 for the first 30mins or so and then gradually throttle over another hour back to 1190~. Obviously that was the speed I was paying for, so it's not really a negative as such, but it did make me realise how much the reference cooler was holding back the potential of the card. This was all in a case with very decent airflow in a fairly cool room. I would be very surprised if any of the SC Reference models were able to maintain their maximum boost clocks indefinitely.

Once scam finally bother to refund me I'll probably pick up a G1 after the stock levels / prices stabilize, or potentially wait and see how the MSI and Asus aftermarket offerings perform.

Do check with afterburner what the Temp limit is set to by default on those cards.

Considering the good temps, I was expecting some higher boosts.
A constant 1250Mhz is still good though.

Good call. I increased the temp and power limit to their maximum in afterburner but the boost is still 1265. In SLI, is the core clock only as fast as your slowest card? My top card has an ASIC of 74% and my bottom one has 62%, I wonder if that has an effect on things.

So far after having played an hour of GTA, I found the 1-1 profile to be superb. I can't hear the fans at all while gaming and temperatures hover around 71 and 65 degrees. Later today I'll put the front panel back on and see how things are.

I also have to say that after consciously staying away from multi-GPU configurations, I've found SLI to be really really good so far. I was especially worried about micro-stutter but haven't noticed this at all. Look forward to playing more games.

I'll look out for how long the boost can maintain itself. I hope your next purchase goes better, and if you're going for one card an aftermarket cooler should give you a much better experience as you said.

Yes, in all Multi GPU setups the lowest card brings the others down to its level.

That's one thing that's awesome about the likes of the ACX and other other market coolers. 1-1 profiles suddenly make sense, as even then they sound as loud as Reference coolers at the default profile. Those temps are wonderful for the types of coolers in SLI.

62% ASIC is very low, I've never had a card that low before. The lower the score the harder it is to reach stock clocks at decent temps and voltage, so it could be a factor for you.

I think I have some lovely reference cooler cards, especially since they maintain a minimum boost clock of 1290Mhz on both cards. Sure the 84 degree load temps might be high, but it's the temp the cards were designed for and they're not having any issues. So happy here.

I have to completely agree about SLI. My last SLI experience was with the abysmal 7950GX2, and I've tried crossfire 3 times, with 2900GTs, 4870X2, and Dual FirePro D700's.

I was kind of worried I'd have driver issues, and stutter; but so far it's been simply amazing performance and experience wise.

Hi there

Got myself a 980Ti G1 and it's boosting to 1510/8400 when clocked with maximum fan speed and +87mv.

That any good for a 980Ti then?

Upto 2625 on Heaven 4.0 Extreme bench so far which beats most of the Titan X's :D

Oh got a Fury too but can't talk about that. :D

Have you tried Firestrike with the G1 ?

I saw a review the other day where they got a very big graphics score with the G1.
