I know this forum is up here before i guess but i just wanted anyones view on which phone i should get. 2 of my closest friends want a desire and x10 and im torn between the 2 phones. They both give me great reason why i should get each phone so i really have no clue which one to get. Any advice is welcomed.

Also ill be getting the phone on Pay monthly, and it will mostly likey be T-mobile as they give those booster deals were i can get decent mins + unlimited net + unlimited Text. If you guys know any reason why i shouldnt go with t-mobile tell please tell me why and also a decent altervantive.

Try both, see which one you like best TBH.

x10 - time/mediascape, better camera, arguably nicer looking
Desire - Sense UI, apparently slightly better built

These two phones are definately going to be in the top 5 most popular smartphones of the year from the looks of this forum and the number of adverts there are in the papers. Bye bye Apple and RIM market shares... :p

No it's Android 1.6, hwever it has been modified massively anyway and it's being updated to 2.1 in a month or two.

Im really stuck between these to phones, and one of my friends just ordered the Desire so ill get to play with that and see how much i like it. Thanks guys

Sony Ericsson supposedly turned down the offer of producing the Nexus One, are people who think that making an official Google phone is a bad idea the sort of people you want to buy Android phone from? :P

IMO the X10 has better hardware, the Desire the better software :)

Have both at the moment and think the desire is better at pretty much everything, bar taking a picture :p

Video's -
Desire quality looks better...although a tad smaller

Pictures -
Deisre displays pictures a lot better and muh more vivid, you can really notice the differant gradiant's of colour on the x10 compared to the Desire..this will be fixed with 2.1 I guess.

Navigation through media and pictures -
Far easier and quicker on the desire with pinch and zoom way better than what the sony can offer(ever)

Battery -
Close call but sony seems better

Charging -
That flap on the sony aint great.

Thats a lot Cryfreeman im not really that into taking pictures with my phone, like its kool and all but its not a big selling point to me so it seems like im edging towards to the Desire right about now.

Got to say that the desire cam aint to bad for people wondering about it. Not far off the x10 if you just pick one up and take a pic, you really need to mess with the X10's settings to get a decent pic(gamma for a start)...even then I am not sure it out shines my 905.

Can you install the generic android software on the X10? I find them appealing but I dont want an out of date platform.

I read theres plans for 2.0 or was it 2.1 update in the summer so i might wait till then and see what happens.

The desire is a fantastic phone and in all reviews I have seen it is the best phone out at the moment.

Plus it has the multi touch which the X10 doesnt have...ill be honest i had a play with one today in a CPW shop and i wasnt that impressed with the X10...it looks nice but compared to the Desire...the Desire ****s all over it in all honesty.

Nice try by SE though but its not really that great a phone even with the 2.1 update i dont think it will be anything special.

What is multi touch?

Is it true the X10 has no proximity sensor? Does this mean it doesnt turn the screen off when in a call? Isnt this annoying?

Allows you to use multiple finger gestures on the screen ie pinch and zoom for instance.

And yes it does have a proximity sensor...in fact a quick google threw this up:
Your phone has two built-in sensors – a light sensor and a proximity sensor. The light sensor
is used for automatic LCD backlight control. The proximity sensor turns the touch screen
off when your face touches the screen. This prevents you from unintentionally activating
phone functions when you are engaged in a call.

Do either of those phones support Bluetooth data? Why does this keep getting removed from phones - the last HTC Android handset I looked at required a physical CABLE connection for the laptop in order to connect to the internet which seemed totally backwards, even my 1999 Nokia 6130 could connect me to the internet without a cable.
