Oh, cool, my proc is in the same category with i7 920 :) Great!
By the way do you know anything about MultuGPU support for new chips mobos? P55 I mean... CrossFire and SLI in one system with X58 chipset was really great idea, I am waiting for this support in P55... :)

This roadmap shows the i7-920 being sold until Q3/2010. I thought everyone was expecting the 920 to be discontinued when the i5 launched?

Mmm confused....

PS.

On this public forum I especially like the Intel Confidential across the bottom of the slide :D

So the i7's are going to be better than the i5's ?
It also appears from that table that my 9550 is gonna beat the i5's ?
I dont really know what the MS3/MS2 classifications are though.

Yep, just a shame they don't include a price list :D
Still, nice to know mainstream at the start of next year is dual core @ 3.2GHz..

That was one bs article from bit-tech.

I guess everybody already knows the specs of the new chips but I will confirm them anyways

i7-870 2.93Ghz 8MB 3.6Ghz turbo HT 95W
i7-860 2.80Ghz 8MB 3.46Ghz turbo HT 95W
i5-750 2.66Ghz 8MB 3.2Ghz turbo NO HT 95W

hmmm 6 core action in early 2010

And sod all games/software to take advantage of it ;)

Yeh considering that quad cores been out for 1,5year or so and yet no game can use it fully ( 80%+ on all cores ) and most games still use only dual cores and not like wolfdales will have problems with games for the next year or so.

So by the time games fully use quad cores and start using 6cores we will have 8 and 12 cores already out

Yet I bet you'll need *insert_newest_GPU*x2 for it.

Funny how since c2d showed up, CPUs are so much more powerfull than the games need.

Well I guess that's a good thing for servers and encoding machines as they fully utilize all the power - but those things anyways have already 16-32CPUs or more for long time and that doesn't get upgraded every year.

I'm just wondering what's gonna happen to the wolfdale and Q8xx series if the i7 is gonna take their price points ? Are they going to be better for the same price? I don't think so...

Intel is kicking itself in the nuts with all this i5/i3 mess tbh
