Walkers Crisps - changed colours?

Its usually the USA that have it the wrong way around. I wonder why the UK version decided it would go against convention.

I’m sure that’s the way it’s always been. I even have a old Walkers pencil case from when I was at school in the 90’s. It’s a Salt & Vinegar one and is green!

Cheese and onion were always blue when I was a lass in the 80's, thats the only flavour I liked then. It used to be rank red (salted) gross green (salt n vinegar) and Blue for the best!

I'm 27 and I've always known Walkers as Blue for Cheese and Onion and Green for Salt and Vinegar.

In a way, don't you think it's kind of funny that we associate colours with flavours, especially when they don't even represent anything like the taste.

must admit I have it in my head that they were once Green for Cheese and onion etc and changed.

It is notable they were relaunched in 1983 but they have been making Cheese and onion since 1954 but I can find no pics of bags between 1954 and 1983.

Two packets of crisps are strolling down the road when a car pulls up and the driver speaks to them.

' Do you want a lift ? '

' No thanks ' said one of them .... we're Walkers. '

They did change, about 15 years ago I think. Ever noticed how all crisps packets except walkers use blue for salt and vinegar and green for cheese and onion? Walkers are the odd ones out :)

Whats odd though is that Walkers are part of the American 'potato chip' company Lays and even they have it the correct way around with S&V in the blue bag.

Not sure about the US, but I remember in South Africa, Ready Salted (Lightly Salted) were in yellow packets.

Your getting Golden Wonder cheese and onion crisps mixed up with the Walkers blue bag... Back in the day GW were as common in the shops as Walkers, they use to be my dads fav ;)

The OP is getting confused with Golden Wonder crisps. I love Golden Wonder S&V, somtimes the flavour is so strong it almost melts your gums. It's the same reason why I miss Tudor pickled onion and gammon flavours.
