AAAARRGGGGGHHHHH!!!

This has been annoying me for weeks. I (and a couple of other guys in my office) upgraded our machines from Vista pro to win7 64bit a couple of weeks ago and ever since, whenever I edit a file in Visual Studio and save it to the network, it leaves a 'original-filename.ext~RF*.TMP' file in the same folder - as below:

Very annoying when you work on something for a couple of hours to be greeted by 100 or so TMP files when you FTP it

The kicker is, this only affects my machine, the other win7 machines are fine!

I've removed AVG as what little on google there is said this was a cause, but it's still hapening.

Any help greatly appreciated.

a first guess would be these could be backups made automatically as you work, you could try closing the document (not the application), re-open it and then try ftping, see if they are gone (not an eloquent solution, but may be useful to troubleshoot further).

A quick Google came up with a few different possibilities:

Microsoft Security Essentials. It is recommended to exclude project source folders from its scans.

FAT32 file system. Some people have solved this issue by reformatting to NTFS.

Windows Update. Others have seen this problem arise after updating Windows. I found no info on what specific update caused it, though I think it is from a while ago now.

Info above is from here: http://forums.asp.net/p/1138275/3481298.aspx and MS Connect: http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=323017#tabs

Some other possible causes have been various anti-virus products - namely AVG and ZoneAlarm.
