I've got a realy realy annoying problem at the moment where my cards stay at 400 - 900mhz.

When I fire up Dirt2 they stay at this speed resulting in unplayable performance.

I'm running MSi Afterburner 1.5.0 Beta 2 and Catalyst 9.12s (Non-Hotfix)

Has anyone else experianced this?

The only way I get it to work properly again and run 3d clocks is after a reboot of the pc.

Very very annoying :(

I've noticed that it happens when the Windows Experience Index runs. I avoid it by a) not running WEI, and b) disabling WEI in task scheduler (it runs every Sunday by default).

Edit: this is with a Sapphire card; can't remember if the Powercolor did it.

same issue with my 5850, after watching tv sometimes it sticks to the uvd clock (400/900), then i need to reboot to get it back the idle clock.

Does sound like a driver bug!

Still, I'd imagine theres going to be quite a lot of tweaks and fixes this month, given how the hotfix 9.12 were out on the same day as official, and obviously have a lot of changes being rolled into 10.1, hopefully along with fixes for some of the bugs in them!

Seems to have solved it.. but brought another issue along with it!

Cards are now staying in 3d clocks at times.. Hmm

i had similar issues the other day, second card was at 3d clocks and yet first card was at 2d, even though i had done a profile for 400/900 for the 2d (i did enable this but it completly ignored it), ended up having to uninstall all ati drivers through control panel, then i enabled to show all system/hidden files and tracked down every ATI folder, there was at least two or three, reboot then back to 9.12s, then do a new profile and enable it, and everything is now ok

I have the same issue on my 5770. Win 7 32 bit catalyst 10.1
As soon as i use a dxva enabled codec to play a video im stuck at 400/900 until reboot. Im on a sapphire card, and if i can't find a fix soon i might jump to the asus bios to see if it helps.

I have the same problem I contacted ATI to let them know about this issuse and got this response:

Currently, we have registered issues with control of 2D and 3D clock speed transitions in Catalyst 10.1 and previous.

We have requested high priority on the issue, however, we encourage you to report your issue to AMD Software Engineering through the Catalyst Crew Feedback Form. Please encourage others who have experienced the issue to do so as well.
