Has anyone managed to get the iphone on o2 with unlimited texts?

I'm due an upgrade from o2 on the 22nd. I'm already on a £45 tariff because i tend to go way over 600mins so upped it to the 1200mins a few months ago. The only thing is, o2 only offer 500 texts (on the iphone) and I currently get unlimited. I think i use about 700 but I've had unlimited texts for that long I don't want to have to think about going over my tariff just to send them. I see vodafone offer pretty much the same tariff/price but with unlimited/3000 texts. I was thinking of just ringing o2 on my upgrade date and saying I want them to match that. It doesn't seem like a huge request. Has anyone done similar?

Yep, unlimited texts on iPhone here!
Everything is negotiable. Phone only cost me £30 on a £29 per month (18 months) with half price insurance.

Was that from o2 or somewhere else?
 
Right, I have just called them and this is what was said. They won't match the umlimited texts to the iphone tariff, the only alterantive is to add a £7.50 500 texts bolt-on. They then said they are launching better iphone tariffs before the end of the month and to call them next week. So looks like I will have to wait a few days.
 
IMO you're currently being ripped off, ring the cancellations department (They are allowed to give better deals), explain your a long serving customer, and that you can have a better deal elsewhere for less money.

They will negotiate :)
 
I did. The bloke there politely said theres nothing else he could do but the new tariffs start before the end of the month. I've had a look on the net and quite a few people talking about a new set of tariffs starting on the 26th feb with unlimited texts and possibly cheaper. I can wait that long.

well it's the 26th and the new tariffs are on the o2 website. Nothing special just the addition of unlimited texts.
 
Out of contract now and went onto the £20pm simplicity which gives 600 mins 1200 txts and unlimited internet. I'm sure there will be somthing to suit once you out of contract with simplicity sim only.

i've done the exact same thing, only thing i lost was visual voicemail!
 
Just checked online with o2 site and it seems prices have went up. £25 for what i am getting now but with unlimited txts (1 month contract).

I got a good deal with o2 when i got my iphone, I was on the phone for a fair time pestering them for better options.

The messed up thing was one agent gave me one deal while another gave me something different and better.
 
Well I got my iPhone today with unlimited texts and im posting on it now! Enjoying it so far

well if you look closer they've reduced the mins by like 300 to make up for increasing the txts, the only plan that's seen an increase in mins is the £30/month(from 75mins to 100mins).

ca9phoenix they do a simplicity 'for iphone' options as well which includes the visual voicemail.

I went for the 'for smartphones' option £15/month 300mins, unlim txt + internet 12 month contract with the £50/£100 quidco cashback. I've unlocked the touch hd in preparation for the sim arrival, was originally on orange racoon 30 but managed to get out of the contract 9/10months early due to the fiasco back in august(been on payg since).
