Not long and they will be sat in the quiet part of gyms or hidden away, imo
They've been rolled out to Virgin Active (all 72 UK ones) for quite some time and are very popular, not going anywhere for a while chappie
PowerPlates (and their variants) are an excellent method for getting additional muscle fibre engagement. NBA basketball teams, and rugby teams use them for pre-activation before games as they can improve contractual force.
They're absolutely awesome and use vibration as a means of acceleration training, increasing rate of acceleration without a decrease in mass.
You can do stability, isometric and dynamic movements on them, and some awesome explosive (plyometric) stuff too. They superb for stretches, and massage by activating the lymph system.
You cannot, however, stand on them and expect them to do anything for you at all

They burn fat, just like running does, but not if you just stand on a treadmill
In all seriousness they are very good for people who want to add variety to their usual routines, who are not very mobile or who do not wish to engage in any serious, strenuous exercise due to health issues. For people in good health they are a suppliment.
I sometimes dry gag when I'm doing plyos on them
