God I hope this is half as good as the Colin McRea games used to be and the same format before they moved to Dirt.

Official WRC game console & PC bound Black Bean has announced it is currently developing a World Rally Championship game.
The heaven's be praised, someone is finally sensible enough to create a proper rally game for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. It's been a while since the motorsport has had an outing on console (no we're not counting Dirt 2).

The new official World Rally Championship game is being developed by Black Bean's Milestone studio which has a racing pedigree having handled SBK Superbike championship and MotoGP.

"We are particularly proud to bring the WRC franchise back into the videogames arena after so many years of absence. Milestone has been working hard on this title and our expectations are really high," said Virgilio Bixio, Black Bean Games President. "We will be able to provide the utmost competitive title that will provide extremely positive results. Furthermore, Milestone’s work is enriched by the overwhelming support we have received from the WRC community."

The game is set for release in 2010 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

I'd love an old school Mcrae rally game. repairing the car each stage. The more damage you do the more of your repair time it eats up.

Loved those.

I will download the demo.

Wow must be fun driving around in two production class cars.

They should really make another game like rallisport challenge. That game was a beast.

If a game is good why does there need to be 30 different cars. I played the orginal Mcraes to death and only ever used his car because it was a fun game.

I'd rather a game ran smoothly and handled well than have 50 cars to choose from that in reality don't make the game anymore fun.

Not sure what to expect of this game, think it wont be bad but will it rise above Rallisport and Dirt particulary in physics?

This guys giving it plenty of wheel action though...

Looks fun and audio/graphics are to a high level.

Not bad, but not awesome.

Handling and driving mechanics are pretty solid, and I found it a nice blend of being enjoyable yet tricky. Graphics are OK, but a little rough in places, and everything bar the car itself is blurry, not sure if it's supposed to be some kind of motion effect or just a bit rubbish? Co-driver is irritating, sarcastic if something breaks and screams like a girl if you hit something :p

I also think it would have been nice to have a slight constant rumble through the controller instead of just when you bump into something or go off-line too much.

Bit harsh closing Latte's thread seeing as this one had been virtually dead for a year :p

Anyway...not bad, but not awesome.

Yes, but a don bumped it last night when the Demo came out.

I thought the Demo was OK. Like you said, the gfx are quite rough for a new game. Black Bean/Milestone have had plenty of experience with the 360 so I was hoping they would have been a bit better.

I just don't like the menus and layout in general. You really appreciate how refined games like FM3 are.

I'll probably get it in a few weeks when its £10, like most of their games are.

what an absolute disgrace.
it looks like a game on the pc 15 years ago on a cheap and nasty graphics card, the tree's draw as you approach them, WTF.
the car looks super imposed and it floats rather than drives.

ABSOLUTE ABORTION !!

Why is the demo kicking me off Xbox Live? Nothing wrong with my connection what so ever but 3 times now as I've launched the demo it's kicked me off. ¬_¬

Edit : Doesn't matter, awful demo imo! :o

In that video the game doesn't look too bad at all, certainly not as bad as some of the comments in this thread suggest. I'll look forward to playing the PS3 Demo after that. Although I will admittedly find the choice of vehicles quite boring if it's only going to be Ford and Citroen.

Had a quick go with the wheel, its okay, I didn't like how putting it on the hardest setting with no aids forces you in cockpit view, id prefer the bonnet view , think ill wait until it hits around £20.

You can pick any view you want; just chnage it using the back button.
