As above... Do any gfx manufacturer's warrenty stay valid if you remove the stock cooler to replace it with a water block?

EVGA allow cooler removal as long as you return the card with the original cooler intact.

POV allow this also as i had emailed them and got confirmation.

Really? I never knew they allowed that. Nice to know, as I put EK blocks on both my PoV 480's.

It depends on the company tbh , the best thing to do is send off an e-mail asking do they allow you to take off the stock cooler to replace it with the cooler of your choice . I know a friend who had a sapphire hd 3870 and they refused to do anything with it for him as they suspected he had removed the stock cooler which was true so he didn't fight it

I don't think so
I'd hazard a guess that if a company offers a version with an aftermarket cooler ready installed then they won't accept if you swap the cooler, even if you put the original back on before sending it back

Yup they probably will because i'd say they use one brand and they would probs be able to tell how long the thermal paste has been applied too

great news,i didnt know pov allows you to swap the cooler,i jst bought 2 gtx480 and was thinking about getting a couple of waterblocks as these cards are so hot

I'm pretty sure XFX used to be alright with modifying, don't know whether they still are though.
