Hi there,

I have just received my second U2711 after the 1st one developed a fault and have noticed it is revision 04, my previous one was rev 02. Anyone knows what the differences are?

Cheers :)

Not aware of any significant changes, these are normally just minor OSD changes, bug fixes etc. In regards to setting it up You could perhaps try the settings and ICC profiles from here

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/icc_profiles.Htm

Although the factory calibrated sRGB and adobeRGB presets should also return you decent gamma and colour accuracy without the need for further calibration (other than lowering the default brightness setting)

err the rev 4 is a refurbished model i think..;)

LOL nice one :D

Just received mine from Dell! It is a rev A04.

Any tips for setting it up correctly?

First thing I did is to set the Dynamic Contrast off, its really awful.

Then I turned down the Brightness to 25 and left the Contrast in 50. I also set the preset to Gamer.

It all looks good for me but then again I am no photographer :)

^^^At that res, yes ^^^ :)

mine is a REV A01 Manufactured August 2010 and is also a refurbished model (new though) my first one was A00 or something. great TFT though;)

Do you find the text a bit too small @ 25600x1440? I think my eyes are going...

Looking at one as well and this worries me a bit tbh.

Some seem to say sit a bit further back than you do with a 20" or a 24" to avoid moving your head side to side.

But if the text is small you need to be closer?

Only one way to tell I guess - maybe Santa will be good to me :)

I personally don’t mind the text one bit and I have got it at the native resolution. I can read it perfectly fine, it is a tiny bit smaller than on my 24 but I am already used to it. I think it is absolutely brilliant.

For games I have been turning it down to 1920 x 1080 (to keep the 16:9 ration of the monitor) and to be honest I haven’t noticed any perceptible blurriness. I plan to upgrade my 460GTX to something more appropriate in the next couple of weeks though.

My A04 panel is also so much better than my A02 (although that could be because it was faulty). The A04 has less of that IPS glow and doesn’t have any bleeding at all. Well impressed.

How does the monitor deal with 1920x1200 hdmi/dvi input ? will it do a 1:1 pixel
match with black bars on all sides ? none of the reviews seem to answer this ...
and until I get a laptop with mini dp this is the highest res I can drive and would like to avoid bluriness of monitor scaler
Cheers, Paul

It does 1:1 pixel mapping but it has an internal scaler so it you can choose to fill the screen with 1920x1200.

As I mentioned before I have been playing BFBC2 the last few days and haven't noticed any lag, heck I have been finishing top 3 of my team consistently for the past week. Absolutely lovely.

Some people seem to be complaining about the anti-glare coating but I dislike glossy monitors. I come from a Dell 2407WFP so may be the differences aren't that big in between Dell. I have also use Dell monitors at work and they all have the antiglare coating.
