hello

just got a new line installed by BT and they gave me the Home Hub 3.

but it has restricted utorrent

how do i set up the hub to allow this?
i can get my port number from utorrent but the hub wants a range?

what do i need in the protocol / port range / translate to fields?

if say my port was 60000?

Any 6000-6000, 6000-6000

Nice to see the HH3's are hittin residential customers now, or was it a special trial or anything?

Theyve even labelled port forwarding as OMG "Port Forwarding" Application Sharing my ass lol (HH2)

If you notice any quirks with it ;) let us know :)

Alternatively you can of course change the port on yer uTorrent, probs still have to open it anyway tho :p

well i have a MBPro, and yes I was going to either put the port that is in the utorrent settings already

or put my own port number in utorrent?

as far as the HUB, it was sent out as part of my BB option 1 package, so i think they are just rolling it out to everyone. in fact they sent me two! not sure whether they will notice that or not :p

ok, how does this look?

got my port from utorrent

(should 'automatically map port' be unticked?)

added port to applications

added it to the configurations. i decided to put the ip address in manually because when i clicked my mac from the list of devices it gave me an error (i got the ip address from system preferences / network / airport / advanced / tcp/ip / IPv4 address

I am sure they won't... if you have no use for it, I would be interested in buying the second one off you... this is a serious offer.

Thanks. :)

As above ports for P2P are throttled by BT.
Try outside of peak times.
Also your source will have an impact on speed also.
Yes those settings you haev added are right as long as you've assigned them to your PC/DL box

Also have you changed any of your uTorrent settings?
Connections? Upload/Download limit?

PC/DL box, do you mean my mac?

are there any ports you can change to that BT don't throttle?

Thanks for the reply anyway, but actually I should have received a Home Hub 3 from BT this morning, but all they managed to send me was a box containing two leads and a couple of micro filters... but with a picture of a hub on the front!

Presumably there should have been a second box included as well, containing the actual hub.

Is this how yours came?

Thanks for the reply anyway, but actually I Is this how yours came?

mine came with the thin box with the filters and cable, then a seperate box with the hub, both bound with transparent shrink wrap... X 2!!

Just use upnp

good idea; how do i do that then ;)

btw, i was getting better speeds after midnight last night, still not great but is't obviously this BT throttling nonsense that no other provider feels the need to do

Thanks again for confirming that, which is what I should have been sent, but having now spoken with BT it would appear that my initial order was put through incorrectly, and they have now confirmed that I will actually be receiving a Home Hub 3 on Monday.

Mind you, I will believe that when I actually have it in my hand! :)
