Hi all,

Today I got my new Ford Focus MP3 (yay), however I really don't like the radio that's installed in it and would like to add the one I had in my Clio (Primarily for AUX in).

But the focus radio is a massive thing tailored to the dash (Photo), does anyone know of a way to install my custom unit without having a huge gaping hole, maybe a thing I can buy to put in the gap?

Thanks

A double din HU?
Though a good idea, it would mean that I'd have to get rid of the single one I have now and spend more money, something I really don't want to do.
If it's a single din HU you can just get the surround to sit in the dash so it fits the hole.

^for example!

Sounds like what I'm thinking of, nothing that looks really suitable for my trim though, need a grey one for older Focus :(

Shauncr91, will you be selling your old Ford CD player unit? If it's the original Ford unit, then I'm happy to take it off your hands. E-mail in trust. :)

The hole for the stereo in a Focus isn't quite double DIN size so even a double DIN head unit wouldn't help you out. However you can get blanking plates/fascias that'll clip in to fill in the gap just fine. Hit Ebay and search for "focus stereo fascia" and you'll find loads. You can pick them up from Halfords also but I think they charge an outrageous price like £16 which is crazy when you can pick up the fascia, ISO connector adapter, aerial adapter and removal pins for £7 on Ebay.

Did some searching and found this one: http://www.demonaudio.co.uk/product/Fascia-Plates/Single-Din-Fascia-Plates/346/FP-07-08.aspx

Looks fairly tidy and the radio I have is black too so should look quite good I reckon.

There's also a great tutorial...

There's also a great tutorial at the same place:

http://www.demonaudio.co.uk/tutorial/Ford/Focus/HowtoupgradeaFordFocusstereo9804.aspx

Other tutorials for all Focus models:
http://www.demonaudio.co.uk/manufacturer/Ford/Focus.aspx

It shows you how to do it yourself and all the parts are also a bit cheaper in their upgrade kit bundle things (with and without steering wheel controls).

Thought it was worth a mention - a good find! It's good to see 'online' people out doing things!

After an hour of anger, frustration and swearing I got it in. Quite happy with it, looks rather smart and I'm happy with the facia from Halfrauds. Also picked up some cables so my steering wheel controls are working with it :)
