Crysis at 2560 x 1440

Just reloaded Crysis from steam and the highest resolution in game options is 1600 x 1200, is this the highest it goes cause im sure i played it at 1920 x 1080 before, but want to play at 2560 x 1440. Any ideas!

Lastest 11.8 drivers + tryed 11.7
Hd 5970
i7 920 at 4ghz

You sure you're scrolling down the full way on the options? I made that mistake once wondering where all the res options had gone.

Is there a option for aspect ratio?

Set it to the highest then there will be more res options.

Yup you right does not auto scroll down there is a little tab (which ive just seen) you have to slid down, only been on this for 5 hours lol, many thx

What graphics card you using, can play at 1900 by 1200 at about 60 fps with a HD5970, but at 2560 x 1440 drops to 5fps and totally stalls, i guess this is down to vram on the card. Was going to get another HD5870 but i guess it will make no difference and i would need two 33072MB GTX 580 to be future proof, guess its a small wait and make do till next gen.

5fps - out of interest is that with or without AA?

AA= 8X have not tryed to lower it just wanted full whack, strange in Crysis 2 full settings , high res pack and dx 11 i get around 24- 30 fps

Yeah, I guess it's simply better optimised otherwise you'd probably get lower still on Crysis 2.

Strange that you get 5fps with a 5970
I get 4-5 fps with a 6950 @ 3240x1920! And that's not near as powerful as the 5970.
But true, it could very much likely be the extra vram (2gb as opposed to 1gb)

Ah, I remember doing the exact same thing when I first got it. What a stupid design for the drop down! You can barely see the scroll bar...

Why are you using an AA setting that high in crysis? Especially at that resolution, when AA might not be needed at all.
Crysis has an interesting form of AA, such that it often looks better if you turn it off and use the console setting edge_AA. At that res, 2x or 4x should be more than enough.

Had to laugh at the OP, I had exactly the same problem at release and had a call from my mate asking the same question. We both got there in the end after much cursing

That's where you are going wrong, trying to run Crysis at 2560x1440 8xAA on a single card with limited VRAM.

Remove the AA and I'd wager you'll see a massive improvement in framerate.
