nd idiots guide to installing H80 cpu cooler on 600t case

Right first of all, those instructions in the box are *****.

I tried watching 3 videos on youtube and none of them dumb it down enough for me to see what is going on....namely...

I have a corsair 660t case, and a corsair Tx580v2 psu and an asrock


I am confused as to the following

1) do you remove the plastic stuff on the 4 legged spider thing that sits on the back of the motherboard behind where the CPU is???

2) should I remove the fan at the back of the 600t case to put in the ones that come with the h80?

3) which direction do i put the fans -do they ever go opposite one another? based on logical deductions - I understand corsair want you dragging air into the case.....

4) which screws are you supposed to use?

5) where are those circular nuts supposed to go and what do they do?

6) Does a fan go outside the case?? or is it ...fan inside the case, radiator, then another fan....

7) what's the best way to get those fans screwed in? Should I attach the radiator to the fan first or something??

8) Do you use the case screws that were with the stock fan or the one that was with the cooler???

the videos are too quick for me and they don't explain everything intricately...

seriously confused...

How do I get the fans to screw together with the radiator - seems like the screws aren't long enough! the screws actually won't get in far enough

I'm doing

screw from behind the case - into the case - then into a circular nut, then into a fan - at this point how do u have enough hands to screw any of this together???? I can't even see that the screws are long enough.... Man this is so stressful.

I just watched the top video and it looks really simple to fit.

You should have 8 long screws with the H80 and maybe 8 washers too?

You use four per fan to sandwich the radiator either side within the case.

The fans will have a set of arrows showing the direction of the blades and the air flow so you can get them push/pulling correctly.

Fit the rear bracket to the motherboard (it has some sliding nuts that adjusts for lga775/1156/55 and 1366) by holding to the rear of the board with the protective plastic against the pcb and just screw in the four standoffs, then fit the pump assembly with those four thumb screws and tighten.

Then just coonect all the wires correctly.

What CPU are you fitting it to?

For Intel you remove the old CPU cooler if it's stock you shouldn't have a back plate to remove.

Place the 4 Armed back plate on the back Leave the protective plastic sheet on too as it provides insulation to prevent , adjust the bolts to suits your socket size. For LGA 1366 You leave the bolts out as far as they go for Socket 775 you bring them all the way in. for 1156/1155 you go somewhere in the middle.

Screw the 4 double threaded hexagonal bolts into the back plate from the topside of the motherboard.



Next I would leave the motherboard and concentrate on the Fans,

Fit one fan to the inside of the Rad (the inside is the side with the tubes coming out)

Then remove the fan from the back of the case.

Place the heat sink on the motherboard and screw it into place.
Rotate the Radiator the way round you want it (pipes at the top or bottom)
Place the Fan in the back line up the holes and screw it in. It's easier to screw in Diagonally opposite to make installation easier.


Airflow can go either way Corsair recommends from out to in but if you have lots of fans pulling in already I would use it to exhaust.

Use the fans supplied unless you bought after market ones.

OK I did it.... not tested it yet though

those screws really don't give you much length at all.. I had to get my brother to hold the fan in place whilst I screwd in the heatsynch - .... very tricky.....
