Just loaded up the 12.7 betas.

I am not a skyrim expert but it looks to me like Skyrim is finally fixed on the 7970 with patch 1.6+. Just make sure Vsync is on.

I have not tested Crossfire - yet.

flickering textures, some menus. I was badly affected by it and it was introduced by the game developer with their patch.

sorry pardon my ignorance but why does vsync need to be on? i have a 120hz and was hoping to play it with vsync off..

It breaks the games physics engine. I run with both 120hz and 60hz setups. No vsync equals flying horses and really bad collision detection.

I found this out by searching on you tube.

Vsync on = no problems

the only problem i have with horses is when i go to a certain place near a mill by a river and waterfall a horse flys across my screen.

it isnt my horse and it is dead as it literally flys off the mountain nearby and lands on the floor. its a good thing to watch

it did it on the xbox before i transferd my game

That happened with my old 5970 on 12.4s but it was useful when needing to kill Giants as it dropped them drop a mile up and killed them. The flickering textures was hell without vsync. Also had zero collision on entering rooms as flying objects would make it appear the room is haunted!

Not sure what the locked framerate was on that GPU but on my GTX680s with vsync automatically enabled it's 55fps. Only happened 3 times in 400 hours; I see animals being dropped in a loading section - used Steammover and placed Skyrim on SSD and has never happened since.

Hi there,

The 12.7 beta's gave a good 10+ FPS boost for me with my 7950 but they are bugged. At the top of the screen, location icons were spread all over entire width of the screen instead of only in the compass area. Prolly a few other bugs too but I uninstalled them straight away.

I would wait for the official 12.7s for anyone playing Skyrim.

I tried skyrim earlier with the 12.7 beta drivers and had loads of graphical corruption and the game kept freezing. It works fine with 12.6 on my 7970 ?

Happened to me too. In SkyrimPrefs.ini, change iShadowMapResolution=xx to 2048. On 4096 I had the glitched HUD too, changing it to 2048 fixed it.

You're probably right. I use iShadowMapResolution=4096 as the quality of the shadows below that setting were absolute rubbish. Do they look ok for you at 2048?

Well I use ENB with detailed shadows and they look great. So much better than vanilla in my opinion. Bit better performance too I think because you can lower the shadow settings. I have iShadowMapResolutionPrimary + iShadowMapResolutionSecondary both set to 2048 as well.

Shouldn't be any difference really with AMD or Nvidia but I noticed that the untouched Ultra+FXAA settings were..
iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=1024
iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048
iShadowMapResolution=4096

The shadows are decent enough but certainly could be better - Nvidia options manually set to highest including x8 SSAA.
This is a cropped 1:1 screenshot (click for of larger image) shows quality shadows indoors but lost the one outdoors showing blocker shadows.
