That would be the first place I would look. When you say freeze is the whole PC locked up or can you recover it without a reboot?

Freezing whem idle is much more likely to be to do with sleep or hibernate or a power saving setting not working properly.

Mine freezes when I leave it overnight, only after upgrading to my 7950. Hibernation and sleep turned off also.
