Any news on the Gigabyte P34W with GTX 970m?

Sooooooo, I know I've had some trouble with Gigabyte in the past but having tried out the competition I have to say i miss my P35K. As an international student, portability is key which is why the new P34 is interesting me.

So far i've only seen it mentioned here http://www.notebookcheck.net/Gigabyte-announces-P34W-gaming-laptop.127638.0.html

So will it be coming to the UK?

Hi Robbsy,

Welcome back ! Hope your travels went well :-)

To answer your question here, and also on other thread, yes both P34 and Aorus X3 will be coming to UK with 970m cards, but these wont be on our shores until early part of next year. Cant be exact at this stage, but more than likely Feb/March.

Regards,

Gigabyte UK NB Team

Awesome thanks for the update, so i'm assuming they will arrive at the same time? Or will the P34 be potentially earlier?

Hey Robbsy, If I remember correctly, didnt u go for the GS70 ? How was the experience ?

Yes that is correct. Initially I liked it but I started to notice problems that I hadn't seen in my P35K. Firstly the laptop gets very hot, especially around WASD which means when gaming it can become pretty uncomfortable. It also has a very thick screen, whereas the P35 line all have very thin screens. Yes the GS70 has a flashly keyboard but in all seriousness it's not that great. Contrary to popular belief I actually feel like my Gigabyte had a better build quality, minus the issue I had with it being bent etc.

One final problem is the GPU. It likes to ramp up to 100% and then suddenly shut the fans down, and keep repeating this while playing games. I think it's throttling but not sure.

I'm glad that I got to try MSI out but in honesty I think going back to Gigabyte/ Aorus is going to be a better option now. As much as I was very angry at them when I had my issues, they did do a very good job of sorting everything out in the end. Looking back now I appreciate that haha.

Hey Robbsy, I think you kinda have some bad luck (no offence). :p

But I heard some other users complaining the same about the heat issue with the GS70. Do your game experience FPS dips while ur in game (lets say a good 10-15 mints in ) ?
You should look into the Asus range and the new Gigabyte range. I roughly bought my laptop the same time when you were having your issues with the P35K. I got the P35W v2 and it has turned out superbly well. I game on for hours, no heat issues what so ever and the performance is top notch.

Gearing up for COD AW now :)

I think now that i've recovered from my initial anger at Gigabyte I've realized that the products aren't all that bad. I think it was the whole experience that just put me off in general.

With regards to heat issues it's definitely a problem on my GS70 and the framerate does drop sometimes because of it. My hand also gets hot which is very annoying.

I'm definitely looking at going back to them now though. Currently waiting to see the new P34W. If it looks good I will be selling the GS70 and moving back to Gigabyte.
