Samsung Omnia I900 owners thread.

Well, I have litterally just got mine.

Turned it on and been through set up pages. Initial thoughts: Brilliant!

The phone is really small and light. Smaller than i thought it was going to be. Using the stylus so far and everything has been fine. Once I have set up everything I dont think the stylus will be required, but I will see.

I will do a proper post up tonight once i have put music on there etc.

Anyone got any questions for now?

Hows video recording, maybe upload a video and some pictures taken with the phone :)

Any good games with it to?

i will do tonight. I have missed about 5 hours of work today because of it :) lol.

I know for a fact the video aint great - 15fps, 640x480.

It does take a little getting used to but already playing with it for 5 minuets I can tell I am going to love it.

Back to work then :P Will check back tonight :)

Could the video be improved in software updates at a later date, or is that now set in stone.

not yet as sim is inactive untill registered.

THe more i am playing with it the more i love it.

Does anyone know - do you have to install a third party bit of software for GPS?

i think it comes with google maps which utilizes free gps but then you have to get proper software like route66/tomtom/garmin xt/etc. for real navigation

edit: and video recording can also be done at 30fps on 320x240 (not sure of the resolution i think its QVGA)

If only the Omnia had a higher resolution screen I'd have one by now, I hope they do an updated version before xmas that has such a screen.

unlikely with the innov8 coming out aswell and the omnia being released in september on other networks and the recent tocco and soul...samsung are the market leaders in terms of quality phones at the minute (sales is a different story tho lol)

that is the one let down of the phone, but as said, i dont think there will be anything better in the near future.

hopefully the rest of the features make up for this..

mine arrives tomorrow, will post up my thoughts. .

This was my worry after really considering getting an iphone, but I can honestly say so far I am really pleased with it, and not missing the extra resolution. The phone does work well and typing is much easier than I thought. I have now moved on from using stylus to just using fingers and am managing fine. I am 6ft3 and have really big hands so this was another issue i was worried about.

I just put a Xvid file on there which was 800 megs and it played no problem at all - no strugling at all! thats going to be brilliant for holidays and/or long journeys.

I am going to buy a stereo bluetooth headset now so no wires when listening to music - home in an 45.

got home, connected to wifi and tested browsing - cant fault. Is a little slow loading all graphics sometimes but to be expected on mobile phone. once loaded its a nice experiance.

youtube videos streamed fine.

Does the Omnia come with a little touch screen pen thingy, as seen in some of the youtube vids?

Cheers,

SW.

Edit: is that what you're referring to as the 'stylus?'

yes it does, but pretty quickly i am able to control all the menus with my fingers, including the small ones which is good

does anyone know any links to download gps software? also, which is the best? route 66 seems to be cheapest.
