I think the OP may have confused Corsair for crucial.

Corsair have just announced their new X series (X32 X64 and X128), which use the Indilinx Barefoot controller. The X128 has read write speeds of 240MB/s and 170MB/s, and the X64 and X32 220MB/s/135MB/s.

Crucial have just announced their M series,

The 2.5in drive is available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities, and promises to "enhance system performance by improving operating system boot and application load times". All three feature MLC NAND flash memory, and Crucial's flagship 256GB drive promises read and write speeds of up to 250MB/s and 200MB/s, respectively.

The 128GB drive, meanwhile, reads at up to 250MB/s and writes at up to 190MB/s, while the smaller 64GB drive will provide read speeds of up to 200MB/s and write speeds of up to 150MB/s.

I'm not sure which controller the cruical drives use.

Whatever it is, it has 64MB DRAM cache which is a bit of an improvement on the previous generation of Crucial SSDs. Haven't heard whether or not it can be made to support TRIM at all.

You are still confusing Corsair and Crucial. The new M series SSDs from crucial are their range first SSDs, there was no previous generation.

The recent Corsair P series were rebadged Samsung PB22-J's and the 256G model had 128MB of cache. (I have the PB22-J 256G).

Oh ****** !! Yep sorry guys, I meant to write Crucial, don't know why I wrote Corsair.

If a mod could edit the title I'd appreciate it.

Well, Crucial definitely had a solid state drive on the market before these. It might have been someone elses with their label taped on, of course. But they definitely did exist. I made a thread back in March asking about them.

In fact - link. Is that not a Crucial branded SSD on the Overclockers shop site? And it certainly isn't one of these new ones, as they're MLC and this is SLC.

I may be in a state of confusion most of the time, but I do occasionally wake up.

Ok you got me there, looks like the article I read about the new M series was inaccurate. It might be crucial's first MLC flash drive though, the one you've linked to is SLC.

Absolutely. As I say, I may wander around most of the time in a perpetual fog but I knew Crucial had sold SSDs before these new ones.

It was Crucial/Intel a while back wasn't it?

And the press-release I read said:
The 2.5in drive is available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities, and promises to "enhance system performance by improving operating system boot and application load times". All three feature MLC NAND flash memory, and Crucial's flagship 256GB drive (pictured left) promises read and write speeds of up to 250MB/s and 200MB/s, respectively.

The 128GB drive, meanwhile, reads at up to 250MB/s and writes at up to 190MB/s, while the smaller 64GB drive will provide read speeds of up to 200MB/s and write speeds of up to 150MB/s.

Impressive numbers, and the drives - backed by a five-year limited warranty - are available now priced at £104.99, £201.99 and £367.99 in order of capacity.

So here's hoping prices will fall to these quoted prices! :D

LOL, use both why not, see how many other scalps you can collect. :D

I don't think the sig rules allow me to put two quotes in that way, otherwise I would!

miniyazz - the prices you quote there are what Crucial have on their shop site before VAT gets added (not sure if saying that falls foul of the competitors rule actually, thinking about it), so I don't think they'll fall much for a while.

£120 is nice for a 64GB SSD 200mb/s read 150mb/s write drive!

I just had an electronic chat with them, here's the chat, they said they will have stock in around 2-3 weeks:

Hello, my name is Adam . How may I help you?
clocka: hi, do you have an eta for stock of: CT64M225
Adam : Hi clocka, we expect these parts to be available in the next 2-3 weeks although unfortunately I don't have an exact ETA date as yet.
clocka: do they use the ilyndix controller, samsung controller or jmicron controller?
Adam : One moment, please, while I check for you.
Adam : Unfortunately we can't give out information on the controllers, only read and write speeds.
clocka: the controller information would be found once reviewed or if i dismantled the drive, it will say on the chip the company that made it
clocka: its like me asking what engine is in a mclaren f1 i'd be able to check by lifting up the bonnet myself

Adam : I understand however it's not information we can give out.
clocka: well you just lost a customer i'll purchase another brand to make sure i dont get 1 with a crappy jmicron controller
Adam : Ok, I'm sorry to hear that.
Adam : Is there anything else I can help you with?
clocka: bye

Was there honestly much need to be like that with them clocka? You could just of easily (more easily, in fact) had said when they couldn't supply the controller info "okay, thanks for your time".

Ah well. I'm willing to bet that the person you were talking to doesn't give a toss that you aren't going to buy one of their drives after that. Hope you think it was worth it.

I think it's fair to say with those read a write speeds it isn't the old dodgy Jmicron controller. It could be a new Jmicron controller, the sammy, the Indilinx.
Personally I think you were harseh on the sales guy.

Crucial are a subsidiary of Micron (not to be confused with Jmicron). Micron produce some of the finest memory chips on the face of the planet. If crucial haven't used a 3rd party controller, it's likely Micron have developed a new one. Do not underestimate Crucial's parent co.

do you work for crucial JRS? :P

Nope, just fed up of rudeness is all. Especially rudeness where people have to go out of their way to do it. And as HazardO points out, those read and write figures pretty much rule out the dodgy Jmicron JMF602 controller so what's your worry?
