LOTRO free to play going ahead.

I've been back to LOTRO a few times but never last long before loosing interest again. I think it's the travelling around. There just seems to be way too much running about in that game. Plus the leveling seems a lot slower than other MMOs.

Theres quite a bit of running about, though you get a mount early levels nowadays. The levelling , although possibly perceived as slower, is pretty much on a par with most MMOs, min to max in 6 days /played. Faster than many MMOs even.

Depends what you're used to though I suppose, I'm built on MMOs that took 6months - 1 year to max level, so most MMOs seem fast to me :D

Min to max in 6 days? That's quite insane, really. Personally, I think the levelling does feel a little slower than other MMOs, but I like that about the game - there's still far too much content that you'll outlevel before getting round too, but I suppose making players do everything in the game to level would be a bit much. Travel, too, I've enjoyed - I should be bored of riding across the North Downs by now, but I still love it. Only when I've got a pressing need for tea do I use the travel stables, or occasionally when I need to get to, say, Bree from Rivendell. That's quite a long way.

Read it earlier and couldn't be happier! One can only take so much naysaying before it starts bringing you down! Good to see that they've ironed out the problems.

6 days /played rather than 6 days of course :)

Still far too quick.
When an MMORPG is released that takes a good 4-6 months of play to max a character, then I'll be interested.
There is no point in a game where you can max in a week.

Oh dont get me wrong, I agree, I prefer a much slower levelling pace in my MMOs, was really just pointing out that it isnt all that slow to level in LOTRO. Admittedly thats 6 days /played as an experienced player who knows where to go for stuff, but even as a newer player its still about 9-10 days /played maybe, on a par with many MMOs these days.

(those are /played days of course, not calendar days, so 6 days /played = 144 hours, so guessing an average playtime of 3 hours a day = 48 calendar days)
