Main modem should be right next to where the line comes in to the property. From here, run an ethernet cable to your router/switch

Hijacking cause im looking in to doing my house. I have a townhouse, and wifi is chod on top and bottom floor. Id like an extender upstairs and downstairs (router in middle floor) but also ability to Cat5/6 on the bottom floor (man cave is down there). Should I put an extender on both floors, plus a switch downstairs? I dont want to spend a fortune cutting into and replastering walls, but i do have a spark coming for other jobs that could drop some cable down the wall.
