Plusnet have their 'Safeguard' feature which allows you to block and filter content via the member centre control panel, all this is turned off.

I'm not impressed!

and you still can't access that site? I'm with talk talk and that site has been blocked for ages along with a lot of other "similar" sites. I just use a VPN to avoid the hassle such as accessing torrenting sites and a couple of gaming sites which seem to have been blocked by default. Blame the goverment and external bodies for getting thier hands involved in how ISPs provide the internet to consumers.

Safeguard activated on my connection yesterday despite showing as off. It reverted to normal after restarting the router.

I've tried that and it does not work. Been having awful time on Origin games and looked at the block list and it includes games which they turned on.

Websites relating to computer, online or other games. Also includes information about game producers, how to get cheat codes, online multiplayer gaming servers and online app stores.

PN are ****ing retards, why would they do this and I can't even fix it myself.

Prefer the separate Openreach modem personally. Means I don't need to fork out for an expensive VDSL modem/router if I decide to upgrade.

The only real problem that I had when I joined earlier in the year was the router they sent me first appeared to be for ADSL only - I made a quick call and told how to make it work on fibre, but the wireless range sucked.

Have to say though the lady at CS knew her stuff, was very friendly and even recommended a decent router if I was going to buy my own (which I was)

Have had no problems with speeds, if the speeds drop off then I just reboot the router and modem and off we go again at full speed :) Not once have they moaned either about how much I've streamed and downloaded.

In August I brought down 725 gig !

Yea the Openreach modem is quite good! Only thing is that most routers on the net are a modem/router in one. The Billion BiPAC 8800NL is quite a good router! Also if your only wanting a router this is quite good if your a gamer.

Netduma R1 Router That's quite good! But i don't currently own it but i will do soon, just going on what a lot of people say about it. Only bad things i hear about it is that the wireless range is abit sucky on it.

And with plusnet btw if you have been with them for over 3 months and wish to upgrade you can get a new router too! including the Hub one! for free, just P&P.

Turn safeguard off if you don't like it. I found how to do it quite easily.

http://www.plus.net/support/safeguard.shtml#activate

"Once your broadband service is ready, simply go to your Plusnet SafeGuard control panel and click the ON/OFF button at the top of the screen."

It's in the members section of plusnets site where you login.

As far as i'm aware only thing safegaurd blocks is websites and by default that is... " Pornography, Hate & Intolerance and Tasteless websites by default"

I was with Plusnet for a year, best ISP i've had in recent years if i'm honest.

Just out of curiosity, what is the best router for strong wifi signals. Currently with BT and their homehub 5 cant even reach upstairs no matter what signal i put it on.

Can't fault them at all, any contact is with a UK based CS and the technical side are competent. Sadly I can't get fibre as i'm direct to the exchange and not via CAB (you'd think that would make it easier?) but alas no. The supplied router is awful but hasn't done enough to annoy me into replacing it, yet. Wifi isn't the greatest range wise but it's rock solid for stability and my VoIP provider tells me they re-sell Plusnet's product so they can't be that bad.

Switched over from BT Infinity about 2 months ago and not seen any issues thus far. Its a good cost saving and I also have a static IP now. Im using a Cisco 887VA router that I acquired from work which negates the need for the Openreach modem. I have standalone APs around the house for WIFi coverage.
