My two dell Rx10 series rack servers report power consumption in the iDRAC gui, does anybody know if SuperMicro can do the same? Have a 836tq and x8dte motherboard but so far I can't find power consumption figures.

Also, do their psu fans spin constantly? The psu fan spins even when the system is turned off (but powered at the wall), not a problem really as its going in the rack soon but I wondered as I recall older dell servers (PE2950) requiring a certain psu type to get consumption figures and I'm happy to replace these psu's if I get both the consumption and reduced fan noise.

New SM kit displays power consumption via the ipmi web gui and the data is also available via the ipmi cli on some older models.

Have you checked the ipmi cli for the psu data. If the data exists you could then graph it via cacti etc

You can control fan-speed when the system is running using the ipmi cli but i doubt you can control fan-speed on power-off. But worth checking!
