Budget around £4-500, for a home user for scanning email, no need for fancy graphics but a decent motherboard would be good for taking more modern parts/cpu's etc. Possibility of adding a graphics card at a later date, but for now onboard will do..

Father has a Dell u2512h so only has DP/HDMI in, surprised to see so many mini itx with vga / dvid connectors, whats that all about?

Current ideas are:

Asus H110I-PLUS D3 Socket LGA1151 £68.51
Intel Core i3-6320 3.90GHz £129.99
Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz Vengeance Memory £35.99
Lian Li PC-Q10 Mini-ITX Case 104.99
Samsung 950 PRO 256GB SSD 60.99
EVGA 430W Fully Wired 80+ Power Supply 33.99

Total: £434.46

But wouldn't mind spending the extra and going down the m.2 route, if so which motherboard would be suitable?

Thanks

OcUK are brilliant for RMA's, if the PSU is faulty they'll replace it instantly, no probs at all. Doesn't sound good though, hope it hasn't damaged anything else :(

What if I wanted to game with this machine, what CPU would I need min -i5 presumably and I'd need a graphics card that would fit into the above Mini itx case?

A short GTX 1060 or 1070 should do you just fine; I didn't spot any short RX 470 or 480 cards. You can probably get away without a CPU upgrade for now.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £860.92
(includes shipping: £0.00)
