Hi All

I have a server at home that i play around with that has only got 4gb of memory, I am having problems finding some extra memory to upgrade. I was told that some ram i have just got on fleebay would work just fine so ordered it from the states to find i am still having a problem with it saying memory configured bad

I have ordered this memory - Type: pc3-8500r. DDR3 ECC REGISTER DIMM

SPEED: 1066mhz

Form Factor: 240pin

Capacity: 16GB. you will receive 4 stick of 4gb.

The listing states it will work so am i doing anything wrong. Do i need to configure this at all?

Thanks
Dave

Make sure you're using the correct memory slots.

Make sure you have a processor that'll handle the memory you've got (probably Xeon only).

Start with a single stick and build up from there.

If its anything like my R310s it will be the ranking of the modules which is the problem. The general cheap stuff you find on ebay is 2rx4 and that will not work, only the more expensive 4rx8 appears to be compatible... the T/R310 is very picky..
