Worth going raid for doubling my SSD capacity?

Hi,

I have an SSD 500GB and because of plenty of photo shooting and processing, it gets full pretty quickly. I was wondering if its worth getting a same 500gb drive and putting them in RAID for creating a 1TB storage space...

Do you need all your files stored under a single drive letter?
Raid 0, one drive dies you might lose all.
With your plenty of photo shooting and processing, what backup system have you in place?

Would you consider a work drive of your 500, and a storage drive for finished work in a large mechanical hd, in any size 4 6 or 8 tb, and an external or second internal of the same size as a backup solution.

I would say forget data ssds and go PCI NVME ssds if you have enough spare PCI lanes

Raid 1 a couple of 1TB mechanicals to store work on.

This will give 1TB space, but being mirrored gives excellent data safety.

It will free up your SSD space for working on.

For actual data use SSD in RAID 1, data is protected and reading is faster. For older data use mechanical disk in RAID 1.
RAID 0 = one disk fails, there are no data.
