The i3 is dual core whereas the i5s are quad core. You'd be better off saving and that way you can be sure your CPU won't bottleneck the 480. With an i5 and 480 it'll run the majority of games at 60fps/1080p (at high/ultra settings) I would have thought.

Wait for an aftermarket 480 too, if you can. Might as well keep your eye out for any other cards that may drop to that price-range.

Was looking at the 480 seems like a good bet with i5 6500 maybe! Might up by budget a little bit slightly worried as never built before

You'll be fine. Have a look at some vids on YouTube and follow the motherboard manual. I've only built one and it's pretty straight forward. ;)

unless that removed it, the i3 processors has hyperthreading so it acts as a quad anyways, obviously its no match for a quad with hyperthreading, but dont write i3 off all together.

Yeah. The i3 does have Hyper threading and can just about match the i5 in most games. 90% of the time you wouldn't even notice the difference. Unless you're planning on stretching your budget far enough to get a 6600k and z170 motherboard so that you can over clock it :)

That looks like a good set up for the budget. I am also looking at the 480 for my new rig.
At the moment I have the following.

Intel i5-4450 3.2ghz Quad Core
12GB Ram (2x6 DDR3)
PSU: EVGA 600B Bronze 600watt
Sandisk 120GB SSD
2TB SATA III HDD
GPU: Gefore GTX 650ti

Just been looking and do i need an ssd and m2 drive?? Might up budget to 800

Decided to up my budget but buy a bit at a time, thinking motherboard z170 with i5 6500k, then ram and power supply and finally geforce 970,1060 or radeom 480. Which would be best?
