Asking for a friend but is the above strong enough to play BF1?

Also how far can you usually push these chips, is there room for further overclock on air?

Thanks

More than good enough its still a modern chip, there's people here still rocking i5 2500k chips and getting great performance from them.

I've not had any experience with the Haswell/Devil Canyon chips but I'd imagine you should get 4.4/4.5 out of it.

Yeah solid CPU, using it in my HTPC and has no I issues with most titles and BF1 Beta@ 1080p nor 3440x1440 with R9 Nano. How far it overclocks is down to the lottry. Got mine running at 1.3 volts @ 4.7 Ghz on maximus impact. Does a cracking job most the time. No doubt he could push his chip abit further.

4.4 - 4.6 is the usual limit for Haswell/Devil Canyon. By that I mean, the limit that your average gamer would run 24/7. Most of those chips can go further, but it's not practical for the majority of people.

I had my 4690k running at 4.4 24/7 it could do 4.5 but I dropped it to 4.4 for peice of mind. this was on air.

Ive swapped my 4690k for a 4770k and now have that running at 4.4 24/7 again ive had it at 4.5 but gta v would crash after 20 minutes even though it could run a stress test for 4 hours. no problems at 4.4 ive ran gta v for hours at this. again im still on air

Even at stock you be fine. It may not be the latest gen CPU but its still high end and powerful.

I have one in my media centre and playing Gears 4 last night on ultra settings puts the console version to shame. Im sure BF1 is less demanding.

No that is bullpoop the FX-6350 would get rekt by anything like a 2600k, I was running BF 1 beta @60fps minimum with this setup at 1440p.

ive been playing it with my 4690k @ 4.3, but had to set my fps to 80 to stop it running at 100% mad thing is my gtx770 is only at 63%, seems to be a common occurrence in the forums only with i5s including skylake, hopefully they will sort it with an update.

It's odd, my i7 920 runs at 83% ish across all 8 logical cores, allowing the 290X to be maxxed out

Presumably a bug for those with far more powerful i5s

4690k at 4.6GHz here and I get 100% CPU usage and FPS drops to 30 in multiplayer.

That's with a 1070

I can believe those min specs.

My specs are very similar to yours and I have to say that IS disappointing.

But that depends on what levels you're running the game at.
Surely that can be scaled back.
