Upgrade options...

Hi people
I want to upgrade my system primarily for gaming....
I am happy with my case and my power supply but need a motherboard, and CPU and cooler to adequately match a 1080 GTX for 1440p gaming.
I like to have a play at overclocking on the CPU....
Needs to be a reasonable upgrade to my 3570k running at 4.4.....

What do you guys recommend?

I'm kind of in the same boat, although still sat on a 2500k which still does a good job.

I'd like to refresh the guts of my system though. Will probably end up going for a 7700k and z270 combination. Will need to wait another month or so for availability though.

In the meantime I'm mulling over the merits of x99 and 6800k...

But to be honest, you aren't going to be able to buy anything that is night and day better than what you already have. CPUs just haven't moved on that much in the last five years.

Thanks for the reply, I'm surprised after all this time there isn't a significant upgrade in CPU...will mine not be a bottleneck for a 1080 then?

Depends on the game to be honest.

On the more threaded games you may be slightly held back by your cpu.

Going for a newer i7 will certainly improve your minimum frame rate on these games.

Definitely go for a newer I7
