gtx 970-TBv washed out colours

using a tv with a gtx 970 via hdmi and the colours seem washed out or over exposed and some of the symbols are blury. works fine with the monitor but its currently dying so had to switch for now.

I have tried in the control panel ( GeForce) and couldn't make any difference. is there a tool to do this or another method. tv only has hmdi ports

Does the TV accept full RGB signal? If so make sure Full RGB is enabled in the Nvidia control panel for that particular TV.
