Samsung 850 Evo SSD - Server 2012 R2 AHCI issues fixed yet?

Was all set to upgrade my 128Gb SSD to a 500GB one, Samsung seems to hit the price/performance sweetspot...until I read some Amazon reviews saying "dont bother" if you are running Server 2012 R2.

The SSD (apparently) cant work in AHCI mode with Server 2012 R2, only IDE...which kinda negates the benefits of an SSD in the first place!
So put off, I started looking at Sandisk, Intel etc, which aren't as good value for money.

All down to a Feb 15 firmware update Samsung put out apparently...foobar'd a lot of drives in a lot of systems.

Does anyone know if this has been fixed by Samsung yet?
Does the 850 Evo work happily with Server 2012 yet?

I would see if you can email Samsung directly.

The 850 Evo drives are great. If your concerned by this issue you mentioned above, I'd go with Crucial.

I would have thought that was dependant on which SATA controller was being used.
