Macro on a P&S (First attempt - so be kind)

not a bad pic considering its only a p&s camera (Ixus 800is)

Straight out of the camera with nothing but a crop, no PP done

I know its not true macro, but i kinda like the composition on it.

yes, it is nice

I'm liking the DoF.

I do, however, find the background to be very distracting - if you'd shoved some black card behind it, I think it'd work much better

I agree with hoodmeister actually, it needs a dark backdrop. The detail of the pollen on the stamens is really nice
