Windows XP reinstall - Slipstreamed SP2

I'm planning to reinstall windows xp pro onto my SATA drive, and have already slipstreamed service pack 2 onto a backup copy.

However, I don't have a floppy drive so am just wondering about the SATA drivers. I'm sure I've read somewhere that you don't have to do this manually during setup if you install using XP slipstreamed with SP 2.

Is this correct, or would I have to create a new bootable disc with the SATA drivers and SP 2 slipstreamed onto the XP pro install?

Thanks

nlite can integrate the sata driver for you :)

do it as TEXTMODE and select the os you want to use it on when it asks in the driver part

sp2 has some sata drivers with it, suck it and see!

Ok cool, thanks. I have nlite, but might suck it and see as you put it. I have to do a pretty quick reinstall as my pc has been infected with some weird and wonderful things that I have been unable to remove properly.

just looked it up and its the SI3112 or 3114 driver that you need, i have the 3112 and you def need a driver for it

hang on a sec i'll get links for you

3112 ( retardedly comes under 3512 on their site, but its 100% the right driver)

3114

extract them both to folders like
c:\drivers\3112
c:\drivers\3114

then add multiple drivers using nlite and select the drivers folder

use 7zip or similar to extract them (actually i think xp can do this normally anyway, dont know)

Aha, so these are the drivers I need for my mobo? Cheers for that, I'd better get started on a new slipstreamed xp install then! I may even add a few more drivers while I'm at it.

not all drivers work properly with nlite (its the drivers fault because of the way they reference the exe files they use)

ie creative xfi driver, you'll get the driver, but not the control panel part

afaik, ati and nvidia drivers work fine :)

i just do Sata, bluetooth and lan on my main pc

worth doing a test run before the real install

also, there's the ryanvm pack (google it) that contains all windows updates, he updates it each month

Thanks, I saw that ryanvm pack - it looks very useful. I will probably only integrate lan, sata drivers and the hotfixes. I may try with the catalyst, although I saw that you cannot install the control panel easily(?) - although I'm not sure I want this anyway!

Test run - you mean to install to using a virtual pc? I'm not sure how much longer my pc can hang on because I'm getting all sorts of errors (e.g., internet connection disengaging/settings disappearing, task manager not working sometimes). But it may be worth doing this first then.

Thanks, I ran everything almost in that program. Don't think it has quite corrected my probs, but I'm going to reinstall anyway. It seems I have the remains of winfixer or the vundo trojan, which keeps reinstalling itself. I've ran everything: adware, spybot search and destroy, ewido etc. Actually, I haven't done the business in safe mode yet but will. Anyway, I'm going to reinstall soon so it will all be gone....

run this and select all options to try and fix your current install

but before that, run adaware and spybot s&d, maybe nod32 trial too :)
